Strictly's Tom facing backlash over phone vote fiasco

Strictly Come Dancing's Tom Chambers

Holby City star Tom Chambers is facing an angry backlash from some Strictly Come Dancing viewers who believe he should not be in Saturday night's final.

The actor was given a pass through to the final after the BBC abandoned the phone vote last weekend.

All three couples were allowed through when it became clear that viewers voting for Tom would be unable to save him from the dance-off, due to the tie between Lisa and Rachel at the top of the leaderboard.

Originally votes from last weekend were to be carried over to the final but they now won't be counted and the BBC are offering a refund to anyone who voted.

However, many fans of the series are unhappy that Tom will feature in the final and some are calling for him to do the honorable thing and step down, reports the Daily Mirror.

A show insider told the paper: "Things have turned sour for Tom since Saturday. He and Camilla wanted to get through properly, not be given a free ride. They feel they could have won a dance-off.

"Camilla is really upset and has been crying. She doesn't want anyone to think they have cheated in any way."

Do you think Tom deserves his place in the final? Let us know what you think...

This "StrictlyGate" mentality is becoming tedious, first John Sargent a man no less talented than Julian Clary and the calls for him to quit, then when he did the fall out following that debacle. Now Tom who is a talented dancer, deserves a place in the final as much as the other two contenders. So what if the votes are carried over it will make the contest more interesting. Roll on the Morally Righteous... Brand/Ross, Clarkson and now Chambers....... Flog them all!

He definately derserves his place in the final. It is far harder for the male contestants than the female contestants and I think he has brilliantly. Tom to win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111st

YES, Tom deserves a place in the final!!!!! Why are their so many nasty, peevish, people in the world? It was not Tom decision, the BBC decided to let him in the final. I hope this is the last strictly, I am sick of the organisers of the programme and the nasty people that write in.

Why on earth should Tom and Camilla not take their place in the final, this is an entertainment show and Tom has been wonderfully entertaining and shown himself to be a talented dancer. All the controversy this time is taking the shine off a brilliant programme.

If his performance on last week's show did not get him the judges' top marks, then I think the public should wake up and smell the roses - it's a DANCE contest. However much I hated to see the gorgeous Mr Healey leave, his performance was not up to scratch and he therefor did not get the judges' or the public's vote to stay. Tom should have been 'voted' off by default since no one and nothing was going to save him anyway. It's unfortunate, because he really is a good dancer, but so are the two who remain and I think it's going to be a cracking final, because now Tom will REALLY have to pull out all the stops to prove that he deserves his place. BEST OF LUCK TO ALL!

What sort of cretins watch this programme - it is entertainment! Presumably these people would not normally be allowed out alone. Why are they being given a voice.

I agree totally - he should go. After all the fuss over John Sargent its only right. If the judges and producers are going to be so po-faced about the whole thing then its the only option. So long, Tom. Lisa to win!!
