Pushing Daisies Gets Red Card

Anna Friel in Pushing Daisies

Viewers are up in arms after news that ITV has decided to skip straight to episode three of Pushing Daisies so that the end of the series doesn't clash with Euro 2008.

The first episode of the US drama, which stars British actress Anna Friel, debuted last weekend with 5.7 million viewers.

Now angry fans of the show are bombarding online forums with complaints after it was revealed that ITV are not showing the second episode.

There are nine episodes in the first series of the fantasy drama and ITV have only eight weeks in the schedule before the start of the football tournament.

An ITV spokesperson said: "Episode two was the only show we could drop without spoiling the storyline."

We think this decision shows a total disregard for viewers. Couldn't they have scheduled a double-bill one week or screened the final episode earlier or later in the evening to avoid a clash with the football? Why promote a series so heavily and then treat it like this?

What do you think of the decision? Did you watch the first episode and will this make you less likely to continue watching the series? Let us know what you think...

Yet again TV entertainment is being pushed around by sports schedules; when will the BBC and ITV learn that not everybody in the country is interested in; football, golf, cricket, snooker and tennis. This is why so many people switch to sattelite or rent DVD's. And ask yourself this, would this happen the other way round? Would ITV miss a certain football match so that an episode of a drama series could be shown?

For the first time in weeks my family and I sat together to watch Pushing Daisies. We were so looking forward to watching all the episodes, missing this for football is not an option. ITV should keep viewers not PUSH them away!

Shows a typical disregard for the viewer, believe it or not, not everyone is a football fanatic, and England are'nt even in the competition are they? This undoubtedly spoils what promises to be a great series

You can tell that ITV is male orientated by the fact that football is regarded as more important than this drama. The fact that the game(s) will be repeated and discussed inexorably just to fill out time slots is not taken into account. As indicated if footies is so important then double up. ITV must have been aware of the time slots when the bought the programme so this has been planned for a long time. Charlie

Totally ridiculous but typical. There is no British interest in this football none of the teams even playing.

What's the point of buying a series if you're not going to the whole thing?

Shows what a second rate channel ITV are. They finally get some decent shows and they treat it like this. It'll be Dexter yet. I can't be bothered with Euro 2008, after England didn't qualify
