Ian couldn't bring himself to say, or even spell, the word 'loser' but last night he became one after Sir Alan fired him from The Apprentice.
Ian and Kevin were equally useless - in fact, if we'd been Sir Alan we think we would have fired both of them.
It was always going to be between this pair as soon as they got into the boardroom. Simon was there too but it's obvious Sir Alan has a soft spot for him, however, he's clearly going to have to do more than 'cut up onions' over the coming weeks to remain in his favour. Expect Simon to be appointed teamleader in a task very soon.
Bank Manager (and Matt Lucas lookalike) Kevin was quick to volunteer for the position of head chef because he's eaten in Italian restaurants - not the best of qualifications for the job. The alarm bells started to ring when he struggled to name the ingredients for a carbonara and wanted to charge £4.95 for a bowl of soup 'because that's what it costs in Guildford'.
Pouty Ian struggled to manage the team - he began the task by going round the guys and asking them to give him their commitment (Raef gave 110% as usual), but by the time they opened the pub kitchen for business he had lost any grip he ever had on them. He sulked in the corner after Kevin decided to give the team a pep talk and later denied this had ever happened in the boardroom.
Ian had managed to keep his head down in previous weeks and avoid Sir Alan's scrutiny but as team leader his flaws were exposed. We don't think Kevin will go very far in the competition either, unless running a kitchen is the one area in which he lacks expertise. We doubt that.
So, what about the girls? We had been expecting fireworks between Lucinda and Jenny following last week's boardroom showdown but it never happened. Jenny wisely kept a low profile this week and it was Claire, an early favourite of ours, who stood out in the girls' side - for all the wrong reasons. Claire seems to have some issues with being managed and clashed with teamleader Sara, who in all fairness seemed to do a pretty good job. Also, anyone else notice that Claire never takes off that pearl necklace? She even had it on when she got out of the shower? What's going on there?
Let us know what you thought of the latest task. Would you have sacked Ian? Or did Kevin deserve to go? Have you got any favourites to win the series?

Ian has surely learned now just what a 'loser' is. I reckon AS missed a trick when he didn't force him to actually say the word on telly! For a while it looked close between Ian the LoveRat and George Doors Jnr, but in the end it was obvious that Ian was a gormless useless tosser, and had to go.

Posted by: nicola.ststephens on Thu Apr 10 12:12PM | Report abuseFor aspiring young executives they were all abysmal ! I truly believe a Prince's Trust Team Leader (salary approx £16K) would've made a much better job of the task - If Sir Alan is hoping to employ one these characters he better hope they improve beyond all recognition - all they have going for them on present showing is they are extremely arrogant.

Posted by: emmaholden1979 on Thu Apr 10 12:13PM | Report abuseI thought Ian was completely out of his depth, no man management skills. Organised chaos No, disorganised chaos Yes.
Posted by: orezlatot on Thu Apr 10 12:14PM | Report abuseI must admit it would annoy me to actually make more money than the other team - and still lose. And although Kevin was inept as head chef despite all his big talk, the book has to stop with Ian. As a leader I hardly heard him say a word in the entire thing and Kevin showed him up with his pep talk. I like Simon though, and will be interested to see if he can 'do more than chop onions'. Kevin won't be in too long I don't think.
Posted by: chris_rabz on Thu Apr 10 12:14PM | Report abuseIf I was Sir Alan (I look like a younger version of SAS, not sure if that's such a good thing!), I would fire everyone and hire Simon. Despite your BT Yahoo news article slagging him off, Simon is the only apprentice who has any common sense and has had a real job (NOT Eton, Oxford and then £90,000 a year, like most of the others!) - he was a senior NCO in the army and has served in Iraq. He works twice as hard as anyone else, was the ONLY one of the blokes who advised buying all of their food supplies from the market and, seemingly, the only candidate with a brain. For me, it's show over, Sir Alan - Hire Simon and chuck the rest of them out down the rubbish chute of your sykscraper straight into a large skip which is, hopefully, put on the next ship to Afghanistan! Simon doesn't need to prove anything - he has already done it. As for the superbitch from hell (Jenny) who says she is "the best salesperson in Europe" - well she certainly has the biggest nastiest mouth in Europe - they could utilise her as a tunnel under the Thames with 6 lanes of traffic each way!
Posted by: robert265 on Thu Apr 10 12:14PM | Report abuseIan deserved to go as his ego or should I say arrogance would only lead to a fall, LOSER. Kevin well bless his cotton socks ,he looks like a scared rabbit in the headlights of a speedind car,as for his comments at the end of the show along the lines of nailing Ian, er well he couldnt even articulate that lie! Simon has layed down the guantlet and will no doubt be team leader through choice or by Sir Alans?! I am sure he can fight his corner proving he can motivate, designate and grab the bull by the horns. He did have the only valid comment in the boardroom. As for the janet st porter lookalike sack her !! I wouldnt let her wash dishes let alone work in a large org! It does humour me where the hell do thy get these people from?? Is it just for good television? I think they should find people with personal skills from other walks of life as I would reckon Sir Alan would have a more powerfull line of candidates and maybe find a more deserved winner. Excuse my punctuation and spelling as I am only a poor uneducated but skilled craftsman who would kick all of there arses in manners, dedication, commitment. I worked in spain selling a product in spanish to customers from all walks of life with initially no command of spanish, now thats a test for them ! ps I fancy the Irish one
