Ian couldn't bring himself to say, or even spell, the word 'loser' but last night he became one after Sir Alan fired him from The Apprentice.
Ian and Kevin were equally useless - in fact, if we'd been Sir Alan we think we would have fired both of them.
It was always going to be between this pair as soon as they got into the boardroom. Simon was there too but it's obvious Sir Alan has a soft spot for him, however, he's clearly going to have to do more than 'cut up onions' over the coming weeks to remain in his favour. Expect Simon to be appointed teamleader in a task very soon.
Bank Manager (and Matt Lucas lookalike) Kevin was quick to volunteer for the position of head chef because he's eaten in Italian restaurants - not the best of qualifications for the job. The alarm bells started to ring when he struggled to name the ingredients for a carbonara and wanted to charge £4.95 for a bowl of soup 'because that's what it costs in Guildford'.
Pouty Ian struggled to manage the team - he began the task by going round the guys and asking them to give him their commitment (Raef gave 110% as usual), but by the time they opened the pub kitchen for business he had lost any grip he ever had on them. He sulked in the corner after Kevin decided to give the team a pep talk and later denied this had ever happened in the boardroom.
Ian had managed to keep his head down in previous weeks and avoid Sir Alan's scrutiny but as team leader his flaws were exposed. We don't think Kevin will go very far in the competition either, unless running a kitchen is the one area in which he lacks expertise. We doubt that.
So, what about the girls? We had been expecting fireworks between Lucinda and Jenny following last week's boardroom showdown but it never happened. Jenny wisely kept a low profile this week and it was Claire, an early favourite of ours, who stood out in the girls' side - for all the wrong reasons. Claire seems to have some issues with being managed and clashed with teamleader Sara, who in all fairness seemed to do a pretty good job. Also, anyone else notice that Claire never takes off that pearl necklace? She even had it on when she got out of the shower? What's going on there?
Let us know what you thought of the latest task. Would you have sacked Ian? Or did Kevin deserve to go? Have you got any favourites to win the series?

Yeah, but no, but yeah, but no, but shuttup, right, cos Kevin was mingin' on someink or nuffink and anyway, right, I saw Kevin and Ian behind the pub smokin' when they should've been workin' and even If I wanted to sh*g Lucinda and Jenny which i don't right but even if i did I think they're jus' sooooo wrong and completely like loooosers and that. Yeah? Right.
Posted by: leeacashman on Thu Apr 10 12:35PM | Report abuseWatched the programme for the first time yesterday, and it will be the last! Cannot understand what all the fuss id about. Ian deserved to go, but I like to see everybody sacked, including Sir Alan and the whole programme
Posted by: dferrett on Thu Apr 10 12:36PM | Report abuseI loved Kevin's comment when someone told him to stop shouting in the kitchen. He said "But I'm the head chef, that's what we do" in a very shaky unconvincing voice! I thought the right man was fired. Ian didn't have ANY control over his team, they simply wouldn't listen to what he said. It won't be long before Kevin is ousted though, although I hope it's not too soon as he's hilarious to watch!!
Posted by: jacklawrence81 on Thu Apr 10 12:36PM | Report abuseIan took the wrong people into the boardroom. Kevin & Simon worked hard. The SALES team are the lot who should have been brought in. How much money did they spend on advertising? and what was Michael Sophocles reasoning for charging soup at £2.95 instead of £4??? This is the second time Michael did that - in the last episode he GAVE AWAY premium fish for £50 - to lawyers! Not the homeless. Ian deserves to come off. He had no clue who was helping him and who wasn't.

Posted by: corinne.saunders2 on Thu Apr 10 12:38PM | Report abuseIan was not a firm enough leader, however, I would have fired Kevin, he was about as much use as a Cat-Flap in a submarine.
Posted by: noakes123 on Thu Apr 10 12:38PM | Report abuseLooks alone does not add up to business acumen or leadership skills. He is not a barrister and could not have defended himself any better considering the evidence. If he claims to be in marketing, why did he not apply the basic 4P's? That notwithstanding, he still would have lost considering he hasnt got cost in his vocabulary. Managing a call centre full of @#$% would be a good place for such a manager.
Posted by: chicksohza on Thu Apr 10 12:39PM | Report abuseI hate it when people don't take responsibility for themselves. Iam made a mess as team leader but I think Kevin made his job a lot harder. When you're a leader you can't do everything yourself and have to rely on the skills of your team. Kevin said he would be head chef and made a complete fool of himself when he admitted he did this because he eats in Italian restaurants. If that's all it took to qualify as a head chef we'd all be a Gordon Ramsay!

Posted by: lozzalmb on Thu Apr 10 12:41PM | Report abuseI think that Sir Alan fired the right project manager,Ian, in this task. I just wonder why Ian Kept mentioning that he created the revenue £800 on one night, but he forgot to mention about 'THE COST'.
