Britney Spears has reportedly proven herself to be the biggest diva ever to appear on The X Factor after snubbing the contestants and refusing to meet Simon Cowell backstage.

The singer, who appeared on Saturday night's show, also turned down the dressing room provided and instead insisted on using Simon Cowell's private green room.

Britney's minders banned Simon Cowell from chatting to the star in her room ahead of the show and the judges were forced to grab a quick photo with her in the corridor, reports The Sun.

An X Factor insider told the paper: "You have never seen so many heavies. Even around the judges' dressing rooms were sealed off by Britney's security people. When the judges went to meet her, her security wouldn't let anyone past."

Britney also shocked the show's judges by not watching the contestants' performances. Previous guests including Take That and even famous diva Mariah Carey spent time mentoring the acts but Britney didn't even watch the show backstage.

When Dermot asked her what she thought of this year's final five she said: "Yes, awesome, thank you. I met so many people, the place is beautiful."

Britney has also been criticised by viewers after miming throughout the performance of her latest single - the judges gave her a standing ovation even though other acts who have appeared on the series have sung live.

What did you think of Britney's performance? How do you think she would fare as a contestant in The X Factor? Let us know what you think...

Why do people even like her???? She is a mind controlled slave surrounded by a 45 strong team to keep her that way. She has no personality and all her songs are written for her. Am i the only person who thinks she is a complete waste of space???? Oh and when she came out with hit me... i found the whole thing offensive

I really like Britney, but I have to say her performance on the X Factor was appalling. She was paid to sing on the show, which she did not do. She was asked to give her view on the performances of the contestants, a question she simply ignored (could it be because she did not watch them???) and just gave a completely irrelevant answer instead. Poor show Britney

It's bad enough that my wife puts me through this every Saturday night, but the fact that the contestants had to choose Britney songs to choose made it 10 times worse - I actually felt sorry for them (and me). She's a miming idiot with rubbish songs only an 8-year old @#$% could appreciate.
