Are you absolutely sure that a sequel to Phantom is the way to go?! Surely the main impact of the original ending is that it is just that - an ending of the Phantom and Christine's "relationship"? For me, the real tragedy of "Phantom of the Opera" is that the Phantom is left, after all his hopes and efforts with Christine, alone. That said, I will of course be listening eagerly for the release of the new show and the soundtrack! - D Hollis

What was your original inspiration? Is it still the same now, or has your inspiration changed with time, or the work you are producing?

Another question! I have always wondered what process you go through to create your musicals. Do you write the melody with piano accompaniment first and then 'expand' it to a full orchestra score or is it the other way round? How long does it usually take to compose a song or section of instrumental music? From my experiences with AS Level music composing a piece of music can be a very long drawn-out business but that may just be me! Thanks - D Hollis

I love all of your musicals especially Phantom and Cats. How long does it take for the audition processes to be a lead in one of your musicals?

I'd like to ask Mr Lloyd Webber if he's ever heard of a musical entitled Rameses? I recall being in it when I was a child but there's no trace of it now. There were lovely songs in it - The Burning Bush, A Land Flowing with Milk and Honey etc. Now if he were to work his charm on it I'd be rushing to the West End to watch that one!

I am a massive fan. I teach drama and musical theatre all because I saw Phantom at the tender age of 11 and was hooked -so thanks! What are your views on the rather snobbish view that musical theatre is not 'real' theatre? Please keep up the good work.
