The X Factor is once again at the centre of a controversial row over newspaper claims that Diana Vickers was well enough to appear on last Saturday night's show.
Viewers were told that Diana couldn't perform a song on 'Mariah week' because she was suffering from laryngitis, however, the Daily Mirror has a video of her sounding in good voice during Bonfire Night celebrations - just several days before the show.
This appears to contradict claims made during the programme that she first complained about her voice the pervious Sunday and missed rehearsals because she was confined to her bed all week.
Fans of the series are now speculating that the real reason she missed the show was because she would have struggled to perform a Mariah Carey song.
Diana automatically got through to this week's show while Laura White was voted off in one of the most controversial decisions in X Factor history.
More than 21,000 people have now signed a petition to bring back Laura to the contest. Laura was an early favourite to win the show and blamed her departure on newspaper stories about her lovelife along with tactical voting by the judges.

In bed all week is what they said!!! I don't think so !!

I bet the x factor bosses were on the grassy knoll in 63.If she couldn't sing then I feel there should have been no voting this week. If Laura went out then thats the way public saw it. I hope Diana wins it........she is that bit different.

We are dealing with maniacs who kill toddlers for fun, world recession and the starving children and adults all over the world, terrorism, knife crime to name but a few. Lets get some votes on that instead, these kids are lucky to be on tv once in their lives. Simon Cowell gives recording contracts to all the good ones even if they dont win so perspective, perspective please.

If people don't like it, they should accept this is his choice and respect his opinion. Ruth is a good performer and deserves the same opportunity as everyone else. Laura was a good singer, people should accept that these good singers do not always make it to the end. It's gotten out of hand. Why should she deserve another chance?
