The X Factor is once again at the centre of a controversial row over newspaper claims that Diana Vickers was well enough to appear on last Saturday night's show.
Viewers were told that Diana couldn't perform a song on 'Mariah week' because she was suffering from laryngitis, however, the Daily Mirror has a video of her sounding in good voice during Bonfire Night celebrations - just several days before the show.
This appears to contradict claims made during the programme that she first complained about her voice the pervious Sunday and missed rehearsals because she was confined to her bed all week.
Fans of the series are now speculating that the real reason she missed the show was because she would have struggled to perform a Mariah Carey song.
Diana automatically got through to this week's show while Laura White was voted off in one of the most controversial decisions in X Factor history.
More than 21,000 people have now signed a petition to bring back Laura to the contest. Laura was an early favourite to win the show and blamed her departure on newspaper stories about her lovelife along with tactical voting by the judges.

not at all... i do love both girl's and think they are strong singers i was sad to see laura go:( but in no way do i think diana could not sing a Mariah song she would of put her own twist to the song and it would of been wicked!!! im sure of this

It's a competition and the best man/woman wins, she could not perform, so she should have still gone into the voting stage, present or absent. Does this give every other contestant the chance to miss a week (Joker card) and still compete the following week. Laura getting kicked off was an absolute farce as (GANGSTER GIRL) who openly put the contract on Danni with the finger gun motion was absolutely awful and how the public voted to keep this obnoxiuos performer who is the only one with her own rules....got through is beyond me and my wife who both voted for Laura to win. The poor girl was distraught that she couldnt compete and even last Saturday her voice wasnt totally back to normal. She doesnt want to win with sympathy votes , she wants to win cos people think she is the best performer!! You go girl and I hope your voice is back to normal this week as your singing last week was dire!!

Why do some people always want to think the worst, the girl was not well and she could not help that. She did not engineer the situation as she is a very talented lovely girl and therein lies the problem. Jealousy is a bad trait to have and some can never admit to that. Leave the girl alone to do what she does best and save the hurtful remarks. As my gran always said - paper will not refuse print - it would appear some just like to see their comments up there as its the nearest they will ever come to fame. I picked Diana to win from the onset but admire all of the other contestents as they are, without doubt, very brave to face public humiliation every week. Good luck for the future to all of them.
