X Factor's Diana in fix row

Diana Vickers

The X Factor is once again at the centre of a controversial row over newspaper claims that Diana Vickers was well enough to appear on last Saturday night's show.

Viewers were told that Diana couldn't perform a song on 'Mariah week' because she was suffering from laryngitis, however, the Daily Mirror has a video of her sounding in good voice during Bonfire Night celebrations - just several days before the show.

This appears to contradict claims made during the programme that she first complained about her voice the pervious Sunday and missed rehearsals because she was confined to her bed all week.

Fans of the series are now speculating that the real reason she missed the show was because she would have struggled to perform a Mariah Carey song.

Diana automatically got through to this week's show while Laura White was voted off in one of the most controversial decisions in X Factor history.

More than 21,000 people have now signed a petition to bring back Laura to the contest. Laura was an early favourite to win the show and blamed her departure on newspaper stories about her lovelife along with tactical voting by the judges.

What do you think of the claims about Diana? Do you think Laura should get another chance? Let us know what you think...

Sore throat or no sore throat,,,,the girl sounded s**t....I don't think it would have made any difference...Why don't they make her do a Mariah Carey song now anyway,,,, so she can be judged on that.....They have enough time in the show for her to do two songs don't they..? I feel for Louis Walsh....What he must see in the mirror can't be reality....But he can't be two faced....If he was I think he'd wear the other one....

Do you think if Daniel had been poorly he would have been given the same ppportunity as Diana to carry on the next week ? I dont think so. Laura should never had to go. I like diana s voice but she should have gone because she was unable to perform.

No doubt about it Laura should get another chance. On the night Rachel sang completely out of tune and she should have been in the sing off. Perhaps the voting should change by only giving the public a percentage!

Nothing would surprise me. I am afraid I am probably one of the few people who just don't get Diana. I think her voice sounds awful and last week was dreadful. I know the judges love her but I just don't see it.

this is probably the most talentless contestant to have graced the x factor stage . sadly if you tell some body they are good they start to beleive it and feel that is enough to get by . next we will be having the old - -sorry , i hit a few bum notes this week -- can i have another shot next week ? yeah , sure but you will have to sing off against laura white .enough said

No, I don't think Laura should get another chance, that would make a complete mockery of the show, she was voted out fair and square.I personally thought she was a mediocre singer but all credit to her for her musicianship. As for Diana, the public will have to trust the 'powers that be' as far as her fitness to perform is concerned, but on the otherhand it does seem rather unfair on the other contestants. I would be puzzeled to find a solution to that one.

I am sorry to say this, but I don't think Diana is a particularly good singer. She sometimes sounds like she is being throttled while trying to sing and that high pitched squeak she gives out at the end of almost ever verse really irritates me. Bring Laura back, she is a far superior singer and performer

I can understand why people are questioning (if not complaining) the fairness of Diana sailing through last week's show. It is a competition after all, say if you failed to turn up at a job interview due to illness, would you sail through to the the next round? Simply a NO. You'd get a second chance/rescheduled probably. It doesn't matter any way now, Diana will be less likely to win now considering the controversy surrounding her and how unpopular she's become. Shame, I do like her voice.
