The X Factor is once again at the centre of a controversial row over newspaper claims that Diana Vickers was well enough to appear on last Saturday night's show.
Viewers were told that Diana couldn't perform a song on 'Mariah week' because she was suffering from laryngitis, however, the Daily Mirror has a video of her sounding in good voice during Bonfire Night celebrations - just several days before the show.
This appears to contradict claims made during the programme that she first complained about her voice the pervious Sunday and missed rehearsals because she was confined to her bed all week.
Fans of the series are now speculating that the real reason she missed the show was because she would have struggled to perform a Mariah Carey song.
Diana automatically got through to this week's show while Laura White was voted off in one of the most controversial decisions in X Factor history.
More than 21,000 people have now signed a petition to bring back Laura to the contest. Laura was an early favourite to win the show and blamed her departure on newspaper stories about her lovelife along with tactical voting by the judges.

I'm sorry ''eleanorswift'' but what the fuck are you on about; ''it clearly sends out the message that rules can and should be broken''...???? Whaaa?? Please don't go getting all moralistic on us now. The reason she didn't compete is because she had a bad throat, and you're saying therefore that she should drop out of the competition? And this story is obviously just sensationalist garbage, making a load of fuss over a stupid rumour when the reason she didn't compete is simply because she had a bad throat.

ONLY THE STRONGEST SURVIVE AFTER ALL IT IS A COMPITITION AND SOMETIME YYOU MIGHT NOT LIKE THE OUTCOME BUT THATS JUST THE WAY IT GOES.

Posted by: coghall on Tue Nov 18 06:36AM | Report abuseI think that they were right to let her have the week off, back in pop idol day this happened to one of them Rick Waller - then he had to pull out and Darius came in, but they did let him have one week off. The viewers have voted rachel in so they are stupid she was even out of tune this week as well a bit I thought, Ruth's song was absolutely fabulous and Laura's was well not as good, she sings everything the same way, think Alexandra should win anyway cause she is the best of the women by far, Alexandra, JLS and Owen (I know I have spelt it wrong) for the final.
Posted by: nicci2008 on Tue Nov 18 07:39AM | Report abuseah Mrs Stevens has it been proved that she lied, Laryngitis is really nasty, you could tell she wasn't right this week either, and also do we know if louis had gone to Deadlock what the public vote would have been Laura or Ruth - what if Laura had still been the least popular what then - if people don't vote for their favourites how can they whine and go on and on and on that they are in bottom two.

It makes no difference who wins to him, he will sign who he wants. As for Laura getting voted out, tactical game play by Louis, she will get a recording contract anyway.

Why can't people see through this @#$% act? The reason she does that 'squeak/bad chest sound' on the end of most phrases when singing, is because she does not have the voice nor the training to know how to sustain a note. It is a device used by singers to cover up inadequacies. As for all this hand fluttering, face touching, baby @#$% faces...watch her when she is not aware of the camera, tough as old boots , not the 'poor little waif' she purports to be. Come on Britain, please see through this act! She is ok, but certainly should not win. Imagine an album full of that breathy squeak..ugggggh *shudders*!

People should have picked up the phone and voted. I don't think Laura should come back its a competition and she didn't get the vote.
