The X Factor is once again at the centre of a controversial row over newspaper claims that Diana Vickers was well enough to appear on last Saturday night's show.
Viewers were told that Diana couldn't perform a song on 'Mariah week' because she was suffering from laryngitis, however, the Daily Mirror has a video of her sounding in good voice during Bonfire Night celebrations - just several days before the show.
This appears to contradict claims made during the programme that she first complained about her voice the pervious Sunday and missed rehearsals because she was confined to her bed all week.
Fans of the series are now speculating that the real reason she missed the show was because she would have struggled to perform a Mariah Carey song.
Diana automatically got through to this week's show while Laura White was voted off in one of the most controversial decisions in X Factor history.
More than 21,000 people have now signed a petition to bring back Laura to the contest. Laura was an early favourite to win the show and blamed her departure on newspaper stories about her lovelife along with tactical voting by the judges.

Posted by: euniceanderson on Mon Nov 17 04:00PM | Report abuseI never liked Laura's voice although i didn't think she was ever going to win, i would have at least expected her to do better than Daniel and am i the only one who thinks Rachel should have been out weeks ago? As for Diana, if you're sick you're, its not her fault, if the bosses decided to give her another chance that is up to them and she should not be punished or slated for someone else's decision.
Posted by: sandman2k2_2k2 on Mon Nov 17 04:12PM | Report abusewhat a farce, if x-factor show can behave in this way then the show should be axed. today it is giving the young people a wrong message. the show should be about talent, not fame fortune and a way to make a quick buck via a record. laura was extremely good and i applaud her for her singing but not for effort of not showing up and cheating for getting into the next round ! All the x factor contestants though, are all winners. If she is comes back there will be more controversy about the validity of the show and the final show. Axe the show.

I think it's wonderful to see the producers being compassionate that Diana was able to perform the next week particularly as she was properly diagnosed by a doctor, should she have sung, it would have had a permanent damage on her throat, her diagnosis was much more serious than a common cold.

Laura should not have been voted off. The show is losing favour now as it appears to have control, not by viewers, but by the shows organizers.
