The X Factor is once again at the centre of a controversial row over newspaper claims that Diana Vickers was well enough to appear on last Saturday night's show.
Viewers were told that Diana couldn't perform a song on 'Mariah week' because she was suffering from laryngitis, however, the Daily Mirror has a video of her sounding in good voice during Bonfire Night celebrations - just several days before the show.
This appears to contradict claims made during the programme that she first complained about her voice the pervious Sunday and missed rehearsals because she was confined to her bed all week.
Fans of the series are now speculating that the real reason she missed the show was because she would have struggled to perform a Mariah Carey song.
Diana automatically got through to this week's show while Laura White was voted off in one of the most controversial decisions in X Factor history.
More than 21,000 people have now signed a petition to bring back Laura to the contest. Laura was an early favourite to win the show and blamed her departure on newspaper stories about her lovelife along with tactical voting by the judges.

its getting to the stage now where i dont like watching it, Diana has'nt got the voice to sing Maria songs and i think that could of been a factor in her not singing, rachel is the same she can only seem to sing the same type of songs by the same woman just because people have had a hard life doesnt mean we should keep them in!! after all isnt it for their singing and not the fact people feel sorry for them that we should be voting!!!!!!

She has a weak voice & no stage presence, it was obvious that there was no way she could manage a Mariah Carey song. If she had really had Laryngitis should wouldn't have been able tosing properly this Saturday either. She was well enough to travel home last week to her Mum, if she had been ill she would have stayed in bed. Laur Laura would have won the competition if she had stayed in. In my opinion Ruth should have gone out of those two, Ruth does have a good voice but can only sing loud & brash & her hair & flaunting her 'sex' appeal is getting on my nerves!!! I thought this was a singing competition. Come on people!!!

Posted by: londonceilings on Mon Nov 17 02:19PM | Report abuseWhy would a Doctor put his reputation on the line if Diana wasn't genuinely ill, With regards to the daily mirrors video is that the same one viewers saw on last Saturdays episode, everbody seen her at the firework display, but there is a difference between attending a firework display and singing. I have no doubt that Diana would have blown them away with a Mariah Carey song. You could see on saturdays show that she was still not 100%, but still sounded good.

Posted by: neilson.donna on Mon Nov 17 02:29PM | Report abuseI can't deny that I don't love Diana's voice when she is well but on the other hand; If Diana is getting problems with her voice, then that automatically tells she is not a good singer she must be over straining herself yet a good singer should know how far to go with his/her voice. If she is getting problems in the competions what will it be for her out there in the world of music. Diana dont strain your self just go as far as you are capable of.
