The X Factor is once again at the centre of a controversial row over newspaper claims that Diana Vickers was well enough to appear on last Saturday night's show.
Viewers were told that Diana couldn't perform a song on 'Mariah week' because she was suffering from laryngitis, however, the Daily Mirror has a video of her sounding in good voice during Bonfire Night celebrations - just several days before the show.
This appears to contradict claims made during the programme that she first complained about her voice the pervious Sunday and missed rehearsals because she was confined to her bed all week.
Fans of the series are now speculating that the real reason she missed the show was because she would have struggled to perform a Mariah Carey song.
Diana automatically got through to this week's show while Laura White was voted off in one of the most controversial decisions in X Factor history.
More than 21,000 people have now signed a petition to bring back Laura to the contest. Laura was an early favourite to win the show and blamed her departure on newspaper stories about her lovelife along with tactical voting by the judges.

She looked terrible. The best of them is Ruth, and she still gets sent to the last two...so, it is not fair to her either...

It's more about Simon Cowell's ego than anything else - and Loius Walsh is always trying to make himself look bigger than Simon - as if! The show needs a complete makeover where the public really do get the final say; this will only happen without Simon and Louis and as it's Simon's show, we have a catch 22 situation.

Posted by: milngavie_guy on Wed Nov 12 12:33PM | Report abusei couldn care less. the x factor is a load of @#$%. i did watch it until they voted austen off in favour of that horrible excuse for a human being. hearing of what she has getting up to in the past. you can just picture it. 5 kids. drug abuse etc etc. she's not a victim. she chose to do drugs, have 5 kids all by different fathers. what happened to the good people who were actually better singers. get real. in my opinion you should not be allowed a break like that when you are clearly not as talented. she cannot even sing one note in tune, so for that reason i have stopped watching it and hope thousands will do the same

On American Idiol the girl that acted with Beyonce in Dream Girl was also voted off wrongly. But she came back with a bang. Laura go and get a life. They are other fantastic singers on the show. You are not the best. You can sing but you have no personality. As for Diana hope you get better soon. The doctor could not have made that up.

And it's not her style of singing. Diana is unique, a sort throat can come on three days!
