X Factor's Diana in fix row

Diana Vickers

The X Factor is once again at the centre of a controversial row over newspaper claims that Diana Vickers was well enough to appear on last Saturday night's show.

Viewers were told that Diana couldn't perform a song on 'Mariah week' because she was suffering from laryngitis, however, the Daily Mirror has a video of her sounding in good voice during Bonfire Night celebrations - just several days before the show.

This appears to contradict claims made during the programme that she first complained about her voice the pervious Sunday and missed rehearsals because she was confined to her bed all week.

Fans of the series are now speculating that the real reason she missed the show was because she would have struggled to perform a Mariah Carey song.

Diana automatically got through to this week's show while Laura White was voted off in one of the most controversial decisions in X Factor history.

More than 21,000 people have now signed a petition to bring back Laura to the contest. Laura was an early favourite to win the show and blamed her departure on newspaper stories about her lovelife along with tactical voting by the judges.

What do you think of the claims about Diana? Do you think Laura should get another chance? Let us know what you think...

Has everyone not worked out that the whole point of X Factor is so that two very savvy music producers can, to a large degree, manipulate the entire outcome of the contest for their end benefit, as well as make a great deal of money along the way through premium numbers? No? Keep dialling then...

she should have been asked to leave the show if she was unable to perform and return next year with automatic entry. as far as Laura is concernd she was voted off, deal witih it things happen in life we are not happy with or agree with if it is going to be a problem for a sing of there should not be one. it should be the person with the lowest votes who go home and not left to the judges.

bring Laura back, if Diana gets a second chance then then so should Laura, after all it should have been Rachael out of the competition her performance was flat and out of key.

I think they should have done a double eviction this week instead once Diana was back in the running. laura didnt deserve to go but then why the hell is Daniel Evans still in it ? he hasnt got an amazing voice neither does Eoghan but they are still there, people vote for the less stronger contestants thinking the main stars will have no problems getting through and it doesnt work in the end. Eoghan doesnt have a strong voice and he managed a Mariah song, I think Diana if her voice had been up to it would have done it justice, in her own unique way.. Rachel Hylton gets through weekly end I cant say I have heard one good song from her either, until they have a amy winehouse week she has no chance.

Diana, should have still been in the voting whether she appeared or not!! Having Laura voted off was unbelievable and totally shocking - im off the sign that petition now, not that it will do any good - ITV care about making money and how many viewers they have, not about the viewers opinions .. and besides, a good scandal like this is free publicity. Nice one ITV!

The whole thing is a farse. Like Britains Got Talent, the judges engineer the final result. The votes should be strictly limited to the public vote and the one with the least votes should be eliminated. In Diana's case, if she could not compete then she should have been eliminated. With her talent I'm sure she would in any case get a recording contract.
