I really enjoyed BBC1's new drama series Mistresses (Tuesdays, 9pm) which kicked off last night.
The programme centres on a group of thirtysomething friends all of whom have recently had, are currently having or are about to embark on affairs.
It's difficult not to compare the show to both Sex And The City (the four friends regularly meet for lunch, cocktails etc. to gossip about their lives) and Desperate Housewives (one of the characters is being plagued by mysterious phonecalls which might be coming from her 'dead' husband) - though unlike those shows, Mistresses doesn't play any of this for laughs.
Sarah Parish is brilliant as Dr Katie and things look set to get very complicated by her, judging by next week's preview, when she embarks on an affair with her dead lover's son.
This series looks like it will be a fun ride!
Did you see it? If so, what did you think?

I've really enjoyed Mistresses so far, i don't move from my seat when its on. All four characters are great, and I can't wait to see the stories unfold as the weeks go by.

I look forward to it each week and will be sorry when it finishes. It makes a change to have something decent to watch on the tele and I hope there will be a second series.
