Strictly Come Dancing will mark Remembrance Day this weekend with a special performance of wartime dance, the Swing.

The programme will also feature the remaining celebrities and professional dancers paying a visit to soldiers from the SSAFA competition Soldier Come Dancing.

The news comes after the BBC received complaints from viewers after the participants in last weekend's show didn't wear poppies.

Newspapers yesterday claimed that poppies weren't worn because they posed a danger if they flew off during one of the dance routines.

A BBC spokesperson said today: "The Strictly judges, orchestra and presenters all wore poppies last Saturday night and will be wearing them for this week's show.

"If our celebrities and dancers wish to wear a poppy this Saturday, we will look at how we can make the poppies secure and practical to wear."

The BBC also pointed out that the visit to the soldiers was arranged last week before the row over poppies and that each series of Strictly has supported Remembrance Day.
