Strictly Come Dancing bans 'dangerous' poppies

The BBC has claimed that the reason the Strictly Come Dancing contestants didn't wear poppies on Saturday night's show was because they are dangerous.

Angry viewers reportedly got in touch afterwards to complain and outspoken radio host Nick Ferrari branded the decision 'absolutely shameful'.

A BBC spokesperson told The Sun: "It could be dangerous to pin the poppies on to them (the dancers) while they are flying around at high speed because they could fly off."

Programme bosses are being urged to reverse the decision ahead of this weekend's show.

In a further blow to Strictly, the Prime Minister has revealed that he prefers its ITV rival, The X Factor.

In an interview with GQ, Gordon Brown said: "(Simon) Cowell has accused me of wavering in my support for The X Factor, but I haven't. I'm an X Factor fan, and Peter Mandelson looks after Strictly Come Dancing".

What do you think of Strictly's poppy ban? Are you surprised that Gordon Brown prefers The X Factor? Let us know your thoughts...

There are other ways of wearing poppies than with pins. They could be sown into the ladies gowns or mabe they could just wear some red in each outfit. Poor excuse bbc!

I could get more pleasure from watching a freshly painted door dry ! Now, about the 'Poppy Ban'. What happened to the saying that we should give for those who gave - both in lives and trauma ? What was it that the late Billy Cotton used to shout at the start of his shows ? 'WAKEY, WAKEY' ! Get real B.B.C., your attitude is pathetic. !

I would think the girls dresses are more of a problem that poppies. They seem very poorly made this year.

The British Legion are doing stick on poppies this year (my children have them) so it's a kop out. We should all be wearing our poppies with pride, dancing or not.
