Corrie reveals the new Nick Tilsley

Former Footballers' Wives and Casualty star Ben Price has been unveiled as Coronation Street's new Nick Tilsley.

The actor replaces Adam Rickitt, who played Gail's eldest son from 1997 until his last appearance in 2004.

Nick returns to Weatherfield in December as his mum plans her wedding to boyfriend Joe. He immediately finds himself in a messy situation when he has a dangerous liaison with his brother's ex Tina.

Speaking about his new role, Ben said: "I am absolutely delighted to get this part. I have been seen a couple of times for Coronation Street characters in the past few years but I am pleased now that I didn't get those roles.

"I am really looking forward to stamping my own mark on the character of Nick."

The actor begins filming next week and will make his first appearance on screen on 21 December.

Do you think that Ben is right for the role? At 37, we can't help but feel he's a bit too old for the part. Nick was born at the end of 1980 in the show, making the character just 28. And Adam Rickitt, who previously played the role is 31. But, as we know, in soapland ANYTHING can happen!

    Rickett showed the right the amount of dramatic depth required for such a challenging role. I'm sure Ben Price can pull it off.

    he must have worked for rita at the kabin at some point, always said that woz a hard paper round, he looks like blanches twin, too old, think again guys!!!

    Too old for the role. How are you supposed to believe he is only 28. Laughable, Corrie you have made a big mistake casting Ben Price .

    Such a shame that Adam Rickitt will no be taking up the role again he was excellent in the role as Nick Tilsley and was very cute and handsome as well anyway im sure that Ben will be just fine in the role good luck to him

    This bloke could be 75 and he'd still be a closer match to the original than Barbara Windsor is to the original Peggy Mitchell in Eastenders...................
