Chris Tarrant tells us all about his brand new hidden camera show and also reveals which celebrities keep saying no to Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? Find out more...
Can you tell us about the new show?
It's basically a secret camera show with kids. The parents would, for example, bring their daughter or son to their place of work for the day and then say 'sorry, darling - I have to go off down the road to the shop. Stay here and look after this'. So you have the kids left in charge of a gardening centre, museum, radio station or whatever. The girl who worked at the radio station proved that being a DJ is not really difficult. Which is kind of unnerving but something we all probably knew already!
Any particular favourites?
The funniest of the lot was a little boy who took over a doggy beauty parlour - it was absolute chaos with dogs running about the place and foam spraying everywhere. He suddenly bursts into the whole of Sinatra's You Make Me Feel So Young - he knew every word. How surreal is that?
Did anything go wrong?
No, not at the time. They didn't know they were being filmed on the day and it was only three or four weeks later when they're taken to the TV studio to watch the show that they realise what's going on. One or two of them were speechless as it's a big deal with the audience cheering, but most of them were glowing and thinking 'aren't I clever?'
Did you find any talented kids?
There's a part of me that thinks it should just be a nice isolated moment in their lives and a wonderful memory. If they want to go on and do TV stuff that's fine but the last thing we want to do is yet another reality show - kids got talent or whatever. It might spoil it a bit. At the moment they can be famous at school for a week and then just move on. It's not about showcasing the kids at all - I think there's enough of that.
What else have you got coming up?
I'm doing another clip show at the moment which features a load of bloopers from US game shows, plus more Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? I'm back in next Monday.
Are there any celebrity guests you still want to get on that?
I keep waiting for Ant and Dec. The list of people who've been on is unreal - Sir Alex Ferguson, George Michael, Paul and Heather McCartney. But you get alot of people who say 'I'm an intelligent guy but I don't want to come on and make a complete a**e of myself'. They probably won't but they might and that's the risk they have to take. Ant and Dec say they don't want to risk looking daft. They are bright lads - but I can understand that.

Posted by: sveta17 on Thu Oct 01 12:30PM | Report abuseSooo, if you can`t afford to pay for it, you don`t get to see it. typical. It`s bad enough having to pay a TV Licence to watch repeats.
