Corrie actor threatens to quit over storyline

Coronation Street's Kevin Webster

Coronation Street star Michael Le Vell has said he may leave the show depending on the outcome of an upcoming storyline.

The actor, who plays Kevin Webster, says he will quit if his character doesn't stand by wife Sally when she is diagnosed with breast cancer later this year.

The current storyline has seen Kevin cheating on Sally with neighbour Molly and it will come to a head when he is forced to choose between the two women.

He told The Sun: "If Sally's cancer doesn't end the affair and Kevin's got no remorse towards her then I'm leaving because I can't be putting up with it.

"If he carries on with Molly he doesn't deserve to be in the family unit, it's as simple as that. I hope Kevin gives all of his backing to Sally."

Earlier this month it was revealed that the soap's producers are working closely with medical experts and breast cancer charities to ensure the portrayal of Sally's illness is as realistic as possible.

The storyline is expected to play out in episodes screened over Christmas.

Kevin and Sally are stalwarts of the street and I think if Corrie wants to be realistic then Kevin will certainly stick by Sally if she is diagnosed with cancer

It's fiction not fact. Maybe he's bored of being in a soap. It's not real !!

I don't like the currant story line. Molly has only been wed for a few months. Tyrone is the one I feel sorry for and I hope he never finds out. Kevin should know better we have been down this road before and it's getting boring! Why don't you find Blanche a toyboy. More humour please!

Absolutely right Michael. I admire! you tremendously for standing by your principles. Ok so its only a soap but people do take an example from what's been shown. Perhaps if more actors/actresses stood a more moral stance then we might get a better balance of wrong and right portrayed through such programmes because at the moment its a case of everyone jumping into bed with each others partners. WELL DONE Michael

Who cares? Get rid of the lot of them. Pathetic actors on an endless gravy train. S@#$% the show, and with it Emmerdale, Eastenders and the rest.

Do you know what actors do Michael? They learn their lines and act. Stop whining...it's not as if you're any good. Even if you do leave what you going to do...work at The National? Get a grip ya balloon.
