Coronation Street is reportedly losing one thousand viewers every week - because they are dying.

New figures have revealed that a third of the ITV soap's audience are over 65, meaning they are 165 times more likely to die than anyone else, reports The Sun.

Taking these statistics into account, it means that at least 50,000 Corrie fans are dying each year.

A TV insider told the paper: "Corrie is a massive hit among Britain's older generation, many of whom have watched it since it began nearly 50 years ago.

"Interestingly, the figures show half of its viewers are over 55 as well, so it just goes to show hold old the audience is."

    I have followed Corrie for most of my life, but for me it is fading because of the number of teenagers along with their story lines, but thats only my view. Am I getting old?

    My daughter (16) and I (49) watch Corrie, it's the only soap we follow and we think it's the best on TV.

    What a load of rubbish! I am 'only' 38 and love it... have watched since I was 10 years old. My children are 7 & 9 years and also enjoy it. Obviously there is no real news today!

    most of the cast r old anyway and there is never anything that gritty in it, i dont think whatever they do wont change the stigma the programme has, they dont give the right storylines to the cast and as for david well it just wouldnt happen, and the same with maria and tony. as for molly and kevin well its hardly affair of the year,

    I am forced to watch all the soaps because the wife insists on it, but even she stopped watching Corrie over 5 years ago due to its characters such as Ken, Deidrie, Norris, Rita etc - It is a show well passed its sell by date. But waite do i hear another low flying aircraft approaching? - henpecked 45 year old.

    Well hopefully then it will be axed because its a load of rubbish. i am definitely not a fan and i live in the northwest.
