Celebrity chef Keith Floyd has died aged 65, following a heart attack.
James Steen, the ghost-writer of his autobiography, said that he died at his partner's house in Dorset yesterday.
The chef shot to fame in the 1980s with the series Floyd On Fish and he followed it with wine-fuelled cookery programmes that saw him travelling the world.
Fellow chef Marco Pieree White described him as a 'natural cook' and said he had 'inspired a nation' with his programmes.
He added: "He had this great ability at the stove, great confidence. He was a natural cook. But his very special talent was he could articulate himself and deliver inspiration with words. He spoke in a way that everybody could understand."
Floyd was diagnosed with bowel cancer in June this year.
His final TV appearance came only last night when Channel 4 screened a programme in which he was interviewed by Keith Allen.

Posted by: katiegilbert36 on Tue Sep 15 10:57AM | Report abuseI feel as though I have lost a friend. I have watched Keith Floyd's programmes since the beginning, and his series on France and Italy have been a constant delight to me since they were screened in the 80's. We have lost a showman, a raconteur, and lovely bon viveur. None of the current crop of celeb chefs can touch him - he was an original, and is irreplaceable.
