BBC moves Strictly results show

The BBC is axing the Sunday night results show as part of a shake-up to the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.

Viewers will instead find out the results of the vote as part of an extended programme on Saturday nights.

The format of the popular series was first changed two years ago when the results programme was moved from Saturday to Sunday evenings. However, the new series will combine the two shows, meaning that viewers don't have to wait to find out who has been voted off.

A BBC spokesperson said: "We wanted to make Strictly Come Dancing an unmissable TV event so we are packing all the action into one dramatic show. Audiences will be watching, voting and seeing who is in and who is out on a Saturday night."

The change to Strictly's scheduling comes as ITV moves The X Factor results show to a Sunday night for the first time in the show's history. The BBC's decision will prevent the two programmes clashing when The X Factor reaches its live finals in the Autumn.

This latest change to Strictly follows the controversial announcement that judge Arlene Phillips is to be replaced by Alesha Dixon, along with changes to the line-up of professional dancers.

How do you feel about the decision to drop the Sunday night show? Do you prefer to get your entire Strictly fix on a Saturday night or will you miss watching on Sundays? Let us know...

I love the reason that the BBC spokesperson gave for doing it.... When clearly it's just because they didnt want it to clash with The X Factor.

I think it's a good idea - but it's about time Bruce handed the show over to a younger personality he has had his time.
