Former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham is to join the judging panel of American Idol.
The singer-turned-fashion designer has been signed up by Simon Cowell after Paula Abdul sensationally quit the US talent show earlier this week.
Beckham will be paid an estimated £155,000 to appear as a guest judge in at least two episodes of the next series, reports the Daily Mirror.
A source told the paper: "Victoria is hugely flattered as this is one of the highest-profile gigs in America. It really is a big deal. Her husband David may be getting a bit of stick at the moment but Victoria's profile Stateside has never been higher.
"Network bosses would love to give her the job full-time and it looks like it's there for her if she wants it. But at the moment, Victoria's main priority is fashion. She doesn't really need any distractions."
Ex-judge Paula Abdul revealed her decision to leave the hit US series via Twitter. In a message to her fans, she wrote: "With sadness in my heart, I've decided not to return." It is believed she left the show after negotiations over a new pay deal broke down.

She is brilliantly placed to coach the contestants using her industry and style experience. I would love to see her become a full time Idol judge.
