Big Brother in crisis as viewers AND housemates desert the show

Tom Oliver from Big Brother

It seems it's not just the viewers who've had enough of this year's Big Brother after a third housemate quit the show claiming that he was 'bored'.

Tom Oliver left the house yesterday after just over a week on the show - he had been one of five new housemates brought in as part of an effort to liven up this year's series.

However, his departures means he is now the second of the five new faces to leave, his exit coming just days after Kenneth Tong climbed over the wall to get out. Saffia Corden was the first housemate to walk out when she left just eight days in to Big Brother's tenth series.

Explaining his reasons for going, Tom told Big Brother that there was "no one in the house he wanted to talk to".

Ratings for the current series of the reality show have hit an all-time low - just over two million viewers tuned in to last Wednesday's episode which is down one million from the same point last year.

Meanwhile, bookmakers have slashed the odds of Channel 4 taking the show off the air before the end of the series from 5/1 to 2/1.

Coral bookmakers spokesman Gary Burton told The Sun: "This series has been awful, turnover is at an absolute minimum.

"With new entries and three walkouts already it has been a nightmare to bet on. By lumping on the show to be removed, punters have obviously had enough."

What do you think has gone wrong with Big Brother? Are this year's housemates simply not up to scratch or has the reality show simply run its course? Let us know what you think...

it's always full of non-entities (wannabe z-listers) now & you have to be bi-sexual or have massive tits to get in but no personality & i just think the overall programme is flogging a dead horse - people are bored of this format now & the money could be spent on better, freshier programmes!

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the program is s**t and the people on it are talentless morons? Just a thought!
