What do you think of The Bill's new look?

Thu Jul 23 03:23PM by TV Editor

ITV1 drama The Bill has moved to a new weekly 9pm slot on Thursdays and the time isn't the only thing that's changed for the long-running series.

The producers have said that the show's new post-watershed timeslot will allow them to make it a 'darker, grittier and more hard-hitting drama'.

The series is now shot in high definition and features background music for the first time.

As well as that, the show has got new opening titles and - most controversially of all - a new theme tune. Yes, the old theme tune is gone after 26 years!

If you missed the first of the new look episodes, you can watch the opening scene, which ends with the new opening titles and theme tune, below. Take a look and let us know what you think...

Looks like it has now got the WOW factor - although I am nervous in case it changes too much. I think the Bill is AMAZING! I ahev watched it for at least 15 years and always will! Lisa from Sheffield!

Always brilliant. Have watched it for years. Glad 'Smithy' still in there and promoted! All great casting, sad to see members of cast having to leave from time to time, but 'join up' soon interlocks. Some blinding story lines. Good luck with 'new look'

I stopped watching The Bill a while back, but the new look seems tobe covering current issues. I will be tuning in.

"And that's except for viewers in Scotland, who've got their own programmes..." STV has decided that we can't see The Bill any more unless we use Sky. Instead, viewers in Scotland at prime time on a Thursday will see a one hour "celebrity documentary". We get John Michie (one of the actors out of Taggart) presenting a programme about tartan, aling with Lorraine Kelly talking about Dundee and Sanjeev Singh Kohli - Hardeep's brother - telling us about Irn Bru. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7scMC7YSDQ - sums it up. STV is total pants.

How strange - you can't say "documentary" here because it has the three letters "c-u-m" which to some people apparently means male ejaculate, or what Michael Jackson allegedly called "duck-butter". So how do we describe "Panorama" or Dispatches" if we can't use the word "documentary"?
