Deal Or No Deal Tensions were running high in Deal Or No Deal as contestant Simon Lawlor's wife fainted as he struggled to decide whether or not to risk the banker's gamble.

A correct answer would win the 36 year-old warehouse supervisor a five-figure sum.

Faced with such a monumental decision, Simon asked to bring his wife Angela to the stage for support but the pressure seemed to be all too much for her.

After complaining she felt ill, Angela fainted on the desk.

Filming was immediately stopped and paramedics were called to the set.

Simon, from Hartlepool said: "As soon as it happened my thoughts about the game completely went, all I cared about was Angela."

But as Angela recovered back stage, Simon decided to carry on with the game.

He revealed that his wife had a history of fainting in stressful situations: "When it happened again I thought it was a sign I should carry on after producers gave me the option of calling it quits.

"Angela passed out on our wedding day and everything worked out so I thought it meant everything would be OK in the game."

Find out what happened in the show tomorrow on Channel 4 at 4.15pm.
