Cheryl Cole will reportedly front the US version of The X Factor.
Simon Cowell is planning on taking the successful ITV show to the States and he wants Cheryl to have a starring role, reports the Daily Mirror.
A source told the paper: "He thinks she has amazing presence and her down-to-earth Northern charm will appeal to the American public. She is also an incredibly beautiful girl.
"She won't get paid anything like the million pound salary she's on here, because obviously she is not as well known in the States. But if it is a success, like most of Simon's shows are, it could catapult her into the big league."
It is believed that Simon himself will not appear on the series due to his American Idol deal with rival network Fox.
Senior executives from NBC, who are working on the US version of The X Factor, are said to be flying in to Manchester this weekend to watch Cheryl at work on the UK show.
Do you think Cheryl has what it takes to make it in the US? Will American viewers be able to understand her accent? Let us know what you think...

Posted by: verdantabyss on Fri Jul 03 01:12PM | Report abuseAs an American, I think it's safe for me to say the following: 1) Nobody knows who she is in the States except for people who read gossip websites such as Perez Hilton, Celebuzz, Socialite Life, etc. Not a huge portion of the population and while most of these people probably watch talent shows such as the X Factor, it's safe to say that those who don't read these sites have NO IDEA who she is. (I've just asked a friend who keeps up with shows such as E News and she has no clue.) 2) Her accent is impossible to understand. I don't care about the Geordie who lived in the US for 20 years and had no problem being understood. Most people learn to understand accents when they hear them on a daily basis, but the US public isn't going to understand a word she says. 3) She's not really US presenting quality. Fair play to her for having done so well in the UK, but it's a lot harder to make it in the US than the UK (think Robbie Williams, Oasis, Martine McCutcheon, Katy Hill, etc.). Even Cat Deeley is only known to the people who watch her show.

Posted by: grace_monsalud on Fri Jul 03 01:14PM | Report abuseNo I don't think America will like her, you can bearly make out what she say's at the best of times. And quite honstley I don't why she gets all this publicity when she is just a hard face young women, have people forgotten what she done to the lady in the toilets!! she can't even sing live, I watched her when her group sang live on the x factor last season and if you watch the tape back you can see Simon Cowell cringe when it was her turn, she can't sing for toffee.
