Cheryl Cole will reportedly front the US version of The X Factor.

Simon Cowell is planning on taking the successful ITV show to the States and he wants Cheryl to have a starring role, reports the Daily Mirror.

A source told the paper: "He thinks she has amazing presence and her down-to-earth Northern charm will appeal to the American public. She is also an incredibly beautiful girl.

"She won't get paid anything like the million pound salary she's on here, because obviously she is not as well known in the States. But if it is a success, like most of Simon's shows are, it could catapult her into the big league."

It is believed that Simon himself will not appear on the series due to his American Idol deal with rival network Fox.

Senior executives from NBC, who are working on the US version of The X Factor, are said to be flying in to Manchester this weekend to watch Cheryl at work on the UK show.

Do you think Cheryl has what it takes to make it in the US? Will American viewers be able to understand her accent? Let us know what you think...

Who cares ? As long as the show is over there and not imported to the UK I will be happy. How about some real entertainment like a re run of the Disney cartoons, anything must be better than these ersatz personality cult shows.

Yes Cheryl is a beautiful Girl/Woman, yes she appeals to our British audiences, not all of course, her accent is understood in this country, but will the American audiences understand her ?????? She needs to work on that side of her and then it could work in her favour. There are many beautiful and talented women in the UK that could wipe the floor with her in every aspect, accent do matter no matter what. But good luck Simon and good luck Cheryl and good luck America.

Couldn't give a @#$%! She's nothing special and neither are her girlband! A true example of her "talent" was singing "The Promise" live on the last series of the X Factor. It was a joke - proving this lady and the rest of her counterparts, cannot sing live. Even Simon Cowell was cringing! If they want someone on this show with spunk, attitude and niceness then employ the singer Pink to do the job! She's cracking!
