Simon Cowell will reportedly quit The X Factor after the next series.
The millionaire music mogul will step down to launch a global TV and entertainment empire with Topshop boss Sir Philip Green, reports the Daily Mirror.
He is expected to leave the show after his £20 million golden handcuffs deal with ITV ends in December, however, he will continue in his role as a judge on Britain's Got Talent.
A close friend told the paper: "He has found X Factor increasingly draining and it leaves him little time for serious business. Now he's decided this will be his last series and he's moving on. In future, he will have a more overseeing role."
Simon is said to be planning a new entertainment venture that will rival the big Hollywood studios. The company will create new shows and manage stars as well as launching further versions of The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent around the world.
His departure will see Cheryl Cole become the new main face of the talent show following the huge impact she made when she joined last year.

The X-Factor is Simon it will be pretty dull without this wonderfulI man. I don't think Cheryl Cole has got what it takes. This show will be like a ship without a rudder when he leaves..

Some think he is harsh and critical but the reality is he knows his stuff and generally hits the nail on the head!

Posted by: angelabaker151 on Thu Jun 25 12:33PM | Report abuseI think it will be the begining of the end for x factor. Simon Cowell is one of those people that everyone loves to hate and the show will never be the same again.
Posted by: pushstartautos on Thu Jun 25 12:33PM | Report abuseHow can there be an X-Factor without Simon Cowell? The contestants value his opinion more than any of the other judges, they all just want to hear Simon say "that was good" so how can Cheryl take his place?
Posted by: cisoffice on Thu Jun 25 12:34PM | Report abuseSimon Cowell is making the right move in quitting the X Factor. He can see the dangers in the pressure that is imposed on contestants to succeed. As for Cheryl Cole? I don't think she has got the X Factor for the show to be a success for more than one series.
Posted by: eurostar.train on Thu Jun 25 12:34PM | Report abuseNo - it will not survive. Cheryl is just too nice. At least Simon says what we are all thinking. He's honest - even though we feel he is brutal sometimes - and gives it that edge. I watch it more for his comments than the actual acts!
