An X Factor contestant has reportedly threatened to kill herself after failing an audition for the show.

The woman, who was in her 50s, became hysterical after getting a 'no' from all four judges at a recording in London earlier this week, reports The Sun.

A witness told the paper: "She ran off, shouting that she was going to commit suicide. The producers ran after her. An hour and a half later they were still making sure she was OK."

The distressed contestant visited the show's doctor the morning after her audition and they were satisfied that she was feeling better about the situation.

This is the first year that the X Factor production team have had a doctor on standby at the auditions. It's believed they decided to have a medic on the set following Susan Boyle's meltdown on Britain's Got Talent.

There is added pressure for this year's contestants as the auditions are being held in front of a live audience.

Do you think shows like The X Factor put hopefuls under too much pressure? Is enough being done to help those who don't make it through? Let us know what you think...

No, I do not think the X Factor puts hopefuls under too much pressure, they know before auditions what the situation will be like and Yes, I do believe enough is done to help them through it.

hows about a new show, where contestants who gey a no in the X factor top themselves by having to watch BB, if they wanted to shoot themselves use the X from the X factor no chance of missing then reality tv.... in reality the judges are the stars, once in a while you get a Leona but the fact is the majority of act and no good

The people who enter the show are talented or deluded. Blame those close to them who encourage the deluded to embarrass themselves. People should take responsibility for their actions and not rely on emotional blackmail to get them through. As for Susan Boyle, she has difficulties anyway and was an exception - a true natural talent. As for Simon Cowell, at least he is honest and tries to be fair.

She needs to man up and take some responsibilty for her own failings in life. As Delboy said "You make your own luck in this world Rodders, no such thing as a born loser." What if this idiot has children, what example is she setting them.

What happened to the days when talented people did the circuits or earned recognition through their own talent instead of looking for 'instant' fame or being 'manufactured'?
