An X Factor contestant has reportedly threatened to kill herself after failing an audition for the show.
The woman, who was in her 50s, became hysterical after getting a 'no' from all four judges at a recording in London earlier this week, reports The Sun.
A witness told the paper: "She ran off, shouting that she was going to commit suicide. The producers ran after her. An hour and a half later they were still making sure she was OK."
The distressed contestant visited the show's doctor the morning after her audition and they were satisfied that she was feeling better about the situation.
This is the first year that the X Factor production team have had a doctor on standby at the auditions. It's believed they decided to have a medic on the set following Susan Boyle's meltdown on Britain's Got Talent.
There is added pressure for this year's contestants as the auditions are being held in front of a live audience.

Posted by: pburch on Thu Jun 25 12:27PM | Report abuseThey know what they've going in for so they should be prepared for it - trouble is its open to all the 'nutters' out there as well - you only have to see the auditions to know that some people think they are bettr then they really are, they should be told out right that they have no hope especially those who are absolutely diabolical, and there's been a few of them.

All auditions have the same pressure.....if you cannot accept that.....then you should not be there. Stay in the audiance....

Posted by: p.zout on Thu Jun 25 12:28PM | Report abusemost of the folk who apply to this type of competition you could argue are mentally imbalanced for believing they actually have talent in the first place. The main interest in the shows is laughing at these deluded folk, Are doctors a good idea or be a kill joy and scrap this type of entertainment??? Its probably only a matter of time before some one that can not handle the pressure eg Susan Boyle or the person mentioned above does top them selves, in the mean time as long as Simon Cowell keeps earning I guess thats ok then.
Posted by: jed1970 on Thu Jun 25 12:28PM | Report abuseNo! It is their choice to go on there in the first place! Nobody forces them to do it!
Posted by: joannasmith81 on Thu Jun 25 12:28PM | Report abuseWhy do we even question it? Britain likes to blame somebody for everything. If she did commit suicide you can imagine exactly what would have happened to the X-Factor, the whole of TV shows of this nature and there would be a massive chance that the family of this obviously troubled person would sue! X-Factor provides an oppurtunity for the BEST OF THE BEST to make it and for us to enjoy the show. Also, if they were to 'do' anything, would there ever be a point where 100% of all possibilities are catered for?
