An X Factor contestant has reportedly threatened to kill herself after failing an audition for the show.
The woman, who was in her 50s, became hysterical after getting a 'no' from all four judges at a recording in London earlier this week, reports The Sun.
A witness told the paper: "She ran off, shouting that she was going to commit suicide. The producers ran after her. An hour and a half later they were still making sure she was OK."
The distressed contestant visited the show's doctor the morning after her audition and they were satisfied that she was feeling better about the situation.
This is the first year that the X Factor production team have had a doctor on standby at the auditions. It's believed they decided to have a medic on the set following Susan Boyle's meltdown on Britain's Got Talent.
There is added pressure for this year's contestants as the auditions are being held in front of a live audience.

No more Simon? Well that's no fun. I probly won't watch it once he leaves then. It's not like I watch it just for him but he's funny and he just makes the show what it is. I love his blunt he is. Everyone else seems to beat around the bush and stuff.

I hate shows like Big Brother where people can become rich and famous with zero talent and often zero personality. Having watched a few minutes of this season, most of them are like bickering 5 year olds who throw a tantrum when they don't get what they want. A lot of people who r 'suicidal' r using it as manipulation.

Posted by: ciaran.mcgarry on Thu Jun 25 12:40PM | Report abuseI can't believe a woman in her 50s would react like that. Its not that the show is putting pressure on "hopefuls", its just the show exploiting people's need for attention. She probably did it as her own kind of publicity stunt. Unless she was put up to it. If it was a real talent show, they would skip all the auditions and just show the contestants who are actually using their talent.
Posted by: dlucas84 on Thu Jun 25 12:40PM | Report abusei dont think they put people under too much pressure. if you don't like pressure don't audition. but there are two different cases here. (A) those that audition that are disolutional and think they're the next best thing when in fact they are a pile of ****. (B) those that don't think they are good enough but turn out to be hiding the most amazing talent/voice. the A's need there heads testing whreas the B's are the ones that need support to deal with being in the spotlight and the pressure of expectation.
Posted by: nutty_fruitloop on Thu Jun 25 12:40PM | Report abusea truthful comment is one thing, but simon cowell is vicious, i myself have auditioned in the past and was basically told that there were too many people auditioning this year so come back next year, beforei even sang they had already pointed at the big NO on the bit of paper in front of them, (and this is the first stages in front of two of the production team and not the actual judges) so yes i think the pressure is too much, the nerves get the better of people, they are looking for the ideal of which there isn't many, obviously there are some pathetic performers who will try for the comedic value but i've seen genuinley brilliant singers be turned away (and no thats not about myself) its a cruel way to treat people, the production team aren't even allowed to give feedback, which in itself is devastating.
Posted by: midnight_jelly on Thu Jun 25 12:41PM | Report abuseX Factor will be nothing without Simon Cowell ....if you enter a show like this you all should know what your letting yourselves in for so why all the fuss!! All auditions have the same pressure.....if you cannot accept that.....then you should not be there. just watch instead ......
Posted by: maureenfothergill on Thu Jun 25 12:41PM | Report abuseI do worry that these auditions being shown to a live audience and ultimately for the television audience brings out the egotistical and unhinged. I don't watch shows like this because to be honest, watching the hopeless being paraded and then berated on television seems just a little Gladitorial in my eyes. I think the first round should not be shown at all and that only those who get through to the next stage should be shown, that should stop silliness like this from happening again but to be honest, its lambs to the slaughter and we seem, as a nation, more than happy to celebrate inanity.
Posted by: ronjamuk on Thu Jun 25 12:41PM | Report abuseoh please give us a break. who would want to kill themselves over a reality show obviously she has other issues going on she should deal with those first. some talentless idiot comes onto X Factor and think if she cries suicide then she can get thru? dont think so. you got no talent love stick to the day job
