David Tennant in Doctor Who

This year's Doctor Who Children In Need special will reportedly bring together all 11 Doctors for the first time in the show's history.

The 15-minute episode, to be screened in November, will include the first appearance by brand new Doctor Matt Smith, reports the Daily Mirror.

The first three Doctors, played by deceased actors William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton and Jon Pertwee, will appear thanks to the use of footage from the BBC's archives.

A Doctor Who source told the paper: "This is a momentous episode for all Doctor Who fans. Never before have all the Doctors been in the same room, let alone in the same show.

"It's been a logistical nightmare getting all the actors together and available for shooting on the same days."

The script will see current Doctor David Tennant enlisting the help of his previous incarnations as he attempts to hunt down a piece of time travel apparatus.

Although this episode will feature all the Doctors for the first time, it won't be first occasion when more than one Doctor has appeared together on screen.

Two years ago, Peter Davidson appeared alongside David Tennant in a special mini-episode called Time Crash and 1993 special Dimensions In Time saw Doctors three to seven turn up in Albert Square. Meanwhile, back in 1983 The Five Doctors featured Doctors one to five, however, William Hartnell was replaced by Richard Hurndall.

Do you think bringing all 11 Doctors together is a good idea? Let us know...

It IS twelve doctors, including Matt Smith. Don't forget Paul McGann. He must count as the film featured Sylvester McCoy passing the role on to Paul McGann (no.9), followed by Eccleston (no. 10), Tennant (no. 11) and Smith (no. 12).

I think it's a great idea but it would be more interesting if they made a real episode than just one of the short ones which to me haven't been that good in the past. It needs more time to bring a really good story together and let the Doctors have long enough on the screen. I sadly feel it will turn out to be disappointing.

Could we not just have David Tennant appearing as 11 separate people, similar to when there were two of him - but better!!

Magical, having been a Dr Who from the early 60s I hope that I can purchase the DVD. My particular Dr Who favourite is Patrict Troughton.

I much prefer the episode with Doctors 1 to 54 than this repeat of the earleir broadcast. It looks so dated, what with all of them being male, humanlike and with only five fingers on each hand and two eyes at that. Oh! wait sorry! wrong timezone, Bl**dy Micros*ft operating system.
