The Jeremy Kyle Show is the sort of programme which has viewers swearing at their TV - or maybe that's just us? But now it's been revealed that the programme accidentally broadcast an uncensored swearword earlier this year.
Several viewers complained to TV watchdog Ofcom after a Scottish guest on the show said to Kyle during a heated exchange "you'd get your **** kicked in". Charming.
The programme's producers have said that they failed to spot the obscenity due to the strength of the man's accent and only realised their mistake when a Scottish viewer got in touch with the show.
Ofcom found that ITV had broken broadcasting rules by airing the swearword and said: "We accept that the inclusion of the term was unintentional, and that the comment may not have been readily understood by some non-Scottish viewers, but ITV should ensure that inappropriate and offensive language is not broadcast before the watershed."
Did you see the offending programme? Would you have been outraged if you had seen it or do you accept it was a mistake?

I find all of Jeremy Viles shows offensive!
Posted by: gillianburkitt on Tue Jul 15 10:24PM | Report abuseI find Jeremy Kyle FAR more offensive that ANY swear word. At least sear words have a use in the correct context. Kyle has no use whatsoever. The man's a @#$%.
Posted by: schrage.musik on Tue Jul 15 10:27PM | Report abuseThe Jeremy Kyle show is thoroughly odious. I'd better stop now.
Posted by: marksimpson315 on Tue Jul 15 10:47PM | Report abuseI am afraid these days there is no point being outraged by anything shown on TV intentional or not, the programme makers seem to think that swearing is the norm regardless of what viewers think. I find there is no call for offensive language of any kind. I find myself reaching for the off button far more frequently these days.
Posted by: elsielarge on Tue Jul 15 10:52PM | Report abuseHorrible word, but Scottish accent can be hard for us Sassenachs, so easy mistake....saying that, you can hear that kind of thing out and about everyday...unfortunately. Does no one have enough of a command of the English language to use a more polite 'expletive'?
Posted by: hemsley982 on Tue Jul 15 10:58PM | Report abuseI I did watch this program but I did not understand half of what this man said , you would have to be Scotish to know what he said I think the program is the best on t.v. as Jeremy always say,s it as it is and what the average person thinks, he tells the truth and does not fussy put around people to be popular.
Posted by: mdavies49 on Tue Jul 15 11:14PM | Report abusesince the comment may not have been understood by non Scottish veiwers, is it ok to offend Scottish veiwers then?
Posted by: pat.19 on Tue Jul 15 11:27PM | Report abuseWhen first aired, Kyle was able to keep his cool. Now he has lost it and shouts and screams like a playground bully at his 'guests'. I'm not surprised an inappropriate word slipped through the net! We watch Matthew Wright now...much more civilised.
