ITV sorry over Jeremy Kyle c-word

Jeremy Kyle

The Jeremy Kyle Show is the sort of programme which has viewers swearing at their TV - or maybe that's just us? But now it's been revealed that the programme accidentally broadcast an uncensored swearword earlier this year.

Several viewers complained to TV watchdog Ofcom after a Scottish guest on the show said to Kyle during a heated exchange "you'd get your **** kicked in". Charming.

The programme's producers have said that they failed to spot the obscenity due to the strength of the man's accent and only realised their mistake when a Scottish viewer got in touch with the show.

Ofcom found that ITV had broken broadcasting rules by airing the swearword and said: "We accept that the inclusion of the term was unintentional, and that the comment may not have been readily understood by some non-Scottish viewers, but ITV should ensure that inappropriate and offensive language is not broadcast before the watershed."

Did you see the offending programme? Would you have been outraged if you had seen it or do you accept it was a mistake?

Let us know what you think...

If it offends use the "off" switch, or change channels, there's no law says you have to watch it. I have found it greatly entertaining,do the "families" come from some special planet? I enjoy Jeremy tellingsome of these idiots to "get a job" and his attempt to make them take a bit of responsibility for their actions.

I love his show, he speaks a lot of sense. I was brought never to swear and can get through all my sentences without any. O-k so one was missed, unfortunately it is the norm which I admit is sad. It won't stop me watching. Patricia Rogers

It can't have been any worse than what Joan Rivers said on Loose Women not so long ago! has the tv company apologised for that, probably more children watching Loose Women as well.

One swear word in a television and movie world full of them. All the movies that never bleep out the swear words, all the television when not all is bleeped. Having watched a lot of Kyle I think that perhaps I would like to kick that part of his anatomy. I sometimes wonder who he thinks he is and how much of the programme is hyped to provoke (just like a certain Mr Springer). Is there such a thing as a watershed these days, I dont think so. Every viewer should be aware that in programmes of this nature that language both verbal and body both guest and host are not suitable for children to watch. Parental control should decide the watershed and switch off if children are in the room, or watch something else. TV, it's not complusory to watch it, the world wont come to an end if you switch it off.
