ITV sorry over Jeremy Kyle c-word

Jeremy Kyle

The Jeremy Kyle Show is the sort of programme which has viewers swearing at their TV - or maybe that's just us? But now it's been revealed that the programme accidentally broadcast an uncensored swearword earlier this year.

Several viewers complained to TV watchdog Ofcom after a Scottish guest on the show said to Kyle during a heated exchange "you'd get your **** kicked in". Charming.

The programme's producers have said that they failed to spot the obscenity due to the strength of the man's accent and only realised their mistake when a Scottish viewer got in touch with the show.

Ofcom found that ITV had broken broadcasting rules by airing the swearword and said: "We accept that the inclusion of the term was unintentional, and that the comment may not have been readily understood by some non-Scottish viewers, but ITV should ensure that inappropriate and offensive language is not broadcast before the watershed."

Did you see the offending programme? Would you have been outraged if you had seen it or do you accept it was a mistake?

in comment to the swearing on the jeremy kyle show, the scottish accent is very strong as my husband is scottish, why would viewers find this offensive, what i find more offensive is the amoumt of violence and hostility that a lot of the guests show towards eachother and members of there familys,i understand some topics could become heated, but there is no excuse for the threatening and abusive behaviour,if the producers know that some guests may become rude and abusive i would not even let them get o n the stage, this is a early morning programe,so please tell me why on earth do they have bouncers,IT IS NOT A NITECLUB

It was a mistake and being from scotland i no how hard it can be for other people to understand our accent. I think the shows great and don't really think it's that much of a big deal.

I don,t think I saw that particular show but as a carer at a residential home it is not good viewing to see persons cry, get angry for what ever the reason is. no wonder viewers want to throw tantrams at the telly. Would anyone, hand on heart say that they would like their personal lives open to debate to audiences throughout the uk in this manner?

I did not see the show in question but have watched a few, although not recently. I doubt if it was a mistake as these shows rely on this type of publicity to draw in their target audience. This and other like shows should be axed as they contribute to the falling standards in society. The programme draws on the failings of individuals and families, do little to help them and make a good profit in doing so. I am no prude but, as I say to the young people that I work with, "there is a time and place for everything". Daytime television is not the place for either these shows, the language used or the violence that they rely on.

With some of the low-life & dregs of humanity that he invites on "his" show, what can he expect. And will he please stop posing for the cameras all the time.
