Who's a goner?

The Doctor Who season finale (Saturday, 6.40pm, BBC1) is always something of a TV event and it looks like this year's may just top them all.

The contents of the final episode are so top secret that no preview copies have been sent out and the cast have been sworn to secrecy over exactly what happens.

So, what do we do know about the final episode, which is ominously entitled Journey's End?

Well, we know that the Daleks and Davros are intent on taking over the universe and that the Doctor - with the help of Rose, Mickey, Jackie, Sarah Jane, Captain Jack, Martha and Donna -must defeat them.

A prophecy has declared that one of them will die, so who will it be? We think the smart money is on either Martha or Donna. We've got a feeling Donna won't be hanging around for too long and Martha and the Doctor have already parted ways so it would be - just about - bearable to lose her. Sarah Jane and Captain Jack both have spin-off series so we're assuming they're safe and if it's Jackie or Mickey who die that would just be a cop-out as they aren't major characters anymore.

Would Doctor Who supremo Russell T kill off Rose? NO! We can't bear contemplating that on. He wouldn't, would he? Or what if we are in for the biggest TV surprise in years and David Tenant's Doctor will regenerate into a brand new actor? Last week's episode certainly hinted at this and it would be one of the biggest TV shocks of all time if it happens. Are we all set to be open-mouthed on Saturday night?
