EastEnders' Yolande Trueman

EastEnders star Angela Wynter has been axed from the show after five years - and she's not happy!

The 50-year-old actress, who plays Yolande Trueman, is reportedly unhappy after producers told her she had to go because they had run out of storylines for her character.

According to today's Sun, the actress said: "I'm not unhappy to leave because life is about changes and new beginnings, but I'm unhappy about the producers' reasoning... you can always write stories for people to act.

"As I told my boss, I am pleased with the work I did playing Yolande because I made her as believable as possible.

"If it has to end, let it be on a good note rather then her character becoming weak due to the producers.

She added: "Patrick and Yolande's marriage is the only representation of a black union on British TV, which I am very proud to have played."

Do you think EastEnders' bosses are right to axe her character? Had Yolande reached the end of the road or could they have come up with better storylines for her? Let us know what you think...

Yolande was playing a good & woth watching role & why you cant put her on as an agony aunt, maybe similar to what Dot is doing or the departed Wendy Richards. I believe you need an african theme along with the Pakistani theme in Eastenders, this is My FAVOURITE soap & programme; so what happens to poor Patrick, is he going to become a widower, so, come on please keep Yolande's script going, I just love her & of course all the other Actors. There must be storylines - long lost nephews, her or Patrick's mother turning up from the Caribbean, more temporary characters staying at the B & B adding spice to the life of 'The Square', she could add to the storylines of Chelsea and her new found Dad. It seems a pity that the programme would be losing the British black element - Yolande especially not conforming to stereotypes

About time too - nothing wrong with Angela, but her character is totally lack-lustre and has never had even one decent storyline. There are a few more that ought to be given the chop in my opinion, and these include 'Gus, Peggy Mitchell, Stacy and Sean and their demented mother! Get rid of 'em one and all...!

I feel that Yolande's time had to come to an end. Too often other actors have been introduced into the programme through her or the family. It was getting a bit tedious, wondering who was going to pop up next. Bring more young people into the programme that can inter-react with Patrick, who I find most brilliantly entertaining with other members of the cast and when NOT involved with Yolande. A terrific successful programme which proves the scriptwriters DO know what they are doing. I trust in their judgement in removing her. Regards Derek

That is not an excuse to say that she should go you can always find another storyline for her. That is not fair at all, who will now be patrick's wife?

I think Patrick and Yolande show a positive representation of a black relationship which is rarely seen on TV these days. She’s got a role to play in a wider sense and it’s disappointing that she’s going to be axed. There has to be a balance, a voice of reason and she can be that, the stabling force in the family… what’s wrong with that! We need to add to the ethnic mix which admittedly has been done but not by removing Yolande. There is more to be offered, we don’t know much about her history, maybe something could be developed there to spice it up? Show that despite her past you can and has make good. Get those creative juices going and pull somthg good out of the bag in true EastEnder style!

Yolande is a great character who has been desperately underused. They should axe the likes of Denise and Chelsea, who are dreadful (particularly the @#$% who plays Chelsea as she cannot act) and do not have a personality between them! They want to get rid of Claire too, as she is crass, so are the Mitchell sisters.

She has really represented marrrige life and she has portryed how women cas be a big asset in marriege, because Patrick is not an easy husband. I am sure the bosses would have writen some good staff for her to stay in the soap. Good luck to her she is a star
