Tired of Tyra?

One of my favourite TV moments of the last few years was during the last series of America's Next Top Model. Faced with a sickly, moaning contestant, Tyra told her how to deal with her problems "you've just got to model through it..." I think we can all learn something from Tyra Banks.

A brand new series of ANTM has just begun (Mondays 9pm, Living). I've watched every season. It's repetitive but it works and I love the mix of bitches, beauties and madness, but most of all I love Tyra. She's the reason all the other versions from Austraila, UK, Canada, etc all fall a bit flat. According to her press release 'When Tyra Banks has a dream, it doesn't stay unrealised for long'. She gives the impression that she believes every word of her own hype.

So, who's your pick to win? I've noticed there's a pattern in the ANTM contestants. A 'plus size' (Whitney) who is gorgeous, will make it pretty far, but will never win if she can't get her size 12s into sequin hot pants. An all-American blonde (Renee), probably a bitch as she's never had to try, she'll think she's a winner. A couple of blow-up doll-a-likes (Francesca and Cassandra) and the geeks-got-gorgeous (Jael, Sarah and Brittany). There's always a dark horse who comes good in the end though...I was shocked that Kathleen was sent home this week as I favoured her for her hair alone! Now my money's on Jaslene. With just a bit of slap and a good hairdresser, she went from pretty, to spectacular. I don't think they've had a Latin American winner either, not that I'd ever suggest politics were involved...

How am I going to wait until the next episode? I guess I'll be modelling through...
