Lucinda 'too zany' for Sir Alan

The Apprentice's Lucinda Ledgerwood

Lucinda lost out on a place in The Apprentice final this week after Sir Alan branded her 'too zany' to work for him and one of the other interviewers dismissed her as a 'nutcase'.

Sure, she was possibly the most eccentric candidate to ever take part in the show and she could have given Carrie Bradshaw a run for her money in the fashion (mi)stakes but that's hardly a reason to rule her out.

So, did she deserve a place in the final? Frankly, no. Firstly, it's become clear over the weeks that she is not a team player. Good team leader, yes - but she struggled to take orders from anyone else and proved to be very disruptive during tasks. Secondly, it did become apparent that she didn't really want the job (well, she did say it!) and it was more likely she took part in the show to to prove she could win it, rather than because she wanted to work for Sir Alan.

In a catastrophic move, she commented to the others outside the interview rooms that she felt that the job wasn't for her. Big mistake - especially when you have a snake like Alex listening. Alex wasted no time in mentioning her shock statement in the boardroom and from then on the writing was on the wall for Lucinda.

Lucinda's firing means that for the first time ever four candidates will take part in the final and, in another first, will work as two pairs - Alex and Helene v Lee and Claire.

So, who do you think will triumph? We think that Lee and Claire could nail this one. He's the grafter and she, most definitely, has the gift of the gab and is an excellent sales person. And with those two in the boardroom, we think that Claire will clinch the title.

What did you think of Lucinda's sacking? Was it fair? Do you think it's a good idea to have four candidates in the final? Who do you think will win? Let us know your thoughts...

Didn't like Alex or Claire at the beginning. Don't understand people saying Alex got by on his looks as he is nothing special to look at and he is a snake in the grass. Claire definitely grew on me as the series went on, she got better and better. Loved Lucinda, a bright, intelligent person, and Raef, who was FAB! Lee was okay, hard working and enthusiastic but he cracked under pressure. I thought Claire deserved to win from the final four. Definitely not Alex or Helene. I also thought Ruth should have won when she was in the final.

I believe Sir Alan should have been more honest re Lucinda. He didn't fire her because she was "too zany" - he fired her because he had nothing better to offer her than she already had achieved.

I really was rooting for Lucinda, but in the end the right decision - for her - was made. I disagree that she is not a good team player per se. All this program showed was that she wanted to have some input and was rudely dissed at almost every attempt. The behaviour was disgraceful. The interviews were appalling: laced with bad language, lies and whingeing - especially Helene's (the "gobshite" queen.) Lucinda was by far the best, most dignified; she's well out of it. Clare would have been the winner for me. As for the other three..... well.....!!!
