Lucinda lost out on a place in The Apprentice final this week after Sir Alan branded her 'too zany' to work for him and one of the other interviewers dismissed her as a 'nutcase'.
Sure, she was possibly the most eccentric candidate to ever take part in the show and she could have given Carrie Bradshaw a run for her money in the fashion (mi)stakes but that's hardly a reason to rule her out.
So, did she deserve a place in the final? Frankly, no. Firstly, it's become clear over the weeks that she is not a team player. Good team leader, yes - but she struggled to take orders from anyone else and proved to be very disruptive during tasks. Secondly, it did become apparent that she didn't really want the job (well, she did say it!) and it was more likely she took part in the show to to prove she could win it, rather than because she wanted to work for Sir Alan.
In a catastrophic move, she commented to the others outside the interview rooms that she felt that the job wasn't for her. Big mistake - especially when you have a snake like Alex listening. Alex wasted no time in mentioning her shock statement in the boardroom and from then on the writing was on the wall for Lucinda.
Lucinda's firing means that for the first time ever four candidates will take part in the final and, in another first, will work as two pairs - Alex and Helene v Lee and Claire.
So, who do you think will triumph? We think that Lee and Claire could nail this one. He's the grafter and she, most definitely, has the gift of the gab and is an excellent sales person. And with those two in the boardroom, we think that Claire will clinch the title.
What did you think of Lucinda's sacking? Was it fair? Do you think it's a good idea to have four candidates in the final? Who do you think will win? Let us know your thoughts...

I am glad Lucinda went - she did get on my nerves a bit - Alex is a rat though and really shouldnt have lowered himself that much - he hasnt risked enough for this show or put himself on the line at all. Although she's annoying, i really want Claire to get the place, as she wants it more than any of the others. Alex is just soooooo stuck on his own age, lee is nice but hung up about his education, and Helene hasnt the confidence really or the sales experience to be able to pull this off

Posted by: maggers_pope on Thu Jun 05 11:30AM | Report abusei think lee and claire was a clever pairing by Sir Alan - the other two are a waste of space. Alex has nothing other than an inflated ego about him. He is dull. His attack on Lucinda last night proved what a chip he has on his shoulder - claire to win!!!!

Posted by: m8teeeee on Thu Jun 05 11:31AM | Report abuseAlex does not deserve to win. He is devious and doesn't miss a chance to drop people in it. Would you want a backstabber working for you?

Posted by: brettlane92 on Thu Jun 05 11:31AM | Report abuseNow what would be really novel is if Sir Alan saw sense and sacked the lot, none of them are trustworthy all-rounders and any he chooses to hire will doubtlessly cause him strife. He should make the headlines and sack 'em all !!

Posted by: graham_jayne.warner on Thu Jun 05 11:32AM | Report abusePoor Lucinda, stabbed by Alex. What a slime ball this young man is, he demonstrated that his youth is also cursed by immaturity, and I would have sacked him immediately. Lucinda is one of those rare managers, who makes it clear that she has no time for idiots, and to the point 'found it hard to work with people totally out of their depth'. This lady saw the flaws in her fellow applicants and made them all feel uneasy, but unfortunately for her she was not one of those aggressive idiots who shouts to get things done, 'demonstrated by her ability to manage tasks and get things done'. Her mistake was to point out the obvious to people who with no idea of business or business management, so she was used as an escape goat by idiots trying to make themselves look good. Lucinda was far too good for the likes of Alan Sugar, and I have no doubt that she would have made a better job of running Sir Alan's business than he himself could, 'she was a square peg trying to fit into a round hole'. I believed the object of The Apprentice was to find a person of outstanding managerial potential, a person who could motivate a team, and more to the point get them working together. On that score Lucinda demonstrated that she was the most capable of the candidates, and her stints as team leader showed that she was polite, firm and organized, more than can be said for any of the others. Lucinda however frightened the other candidates, and as herd animals they tore at the sacrificial sheep with relish. Nice people do not climb to the top, that is done by the wolves. However it is the nice people who quietly get things done whilst the wolves take the credit. As stated in the Peter Principle in every hierarchy each man or woman will eventually rise to his her level of incompetence. In the case of the remaining four they have already arrived at it, Lucinda had not. Alex is young as he keeps saying, but he is not competent, and has demonstrated that he is without honor or principles, that is the type of person who succeeds in life, 'the back stabber who blames others, or who finds fault with others in order to make himself looks good', he made me feel sick last night, for he demonstrated everything that is wrong with our society today. Lee lied about his qualifications, but I wish I had a pound for every CV I saw that had even an ounce of truth in it. In him is a raw talent that could be molded into a fine sales manager, but not a business manager. The rest are not worth a comment.
Posted by: compuscience on Thu Jun 05 11:32AM | Report abuseI agree with Sonieyoe, none of the candidates are much cop, but it is the apprentice, what else would you expect from a highly motivated 21 - 28 year old. Don't really understand how Lucinda or any of the older candidates for that matter got through the interview process they are clearly not apprentice material, period. Unless of course they got picked cos it would make" good telly". Make no mistake, it's all about bums on seats.... and what a lot of bums that have been entertained...
