Lucinda 'too zany' for Sir Alan

Wed Jun 04 09:40PM by TV Editor

The Apprentice's Lucinda Ledgerwood

Lucinda lost out on a place in The Apprentice final this week after Sir Alan branded her 'too zany' to work for him and one of the other interviewers dismissed her as a 'nutcase'.

Sure, she was possibly the most eccentric candidate to ever take part in the show and she could have given Carrie Bradshaw a run for her money in the fashion (mi)stakes but that's hardly a reason to rule her out.

So, did she deserve a place in the final? Frankly, no. Firstly, it's become clear over the weeks that she is not a team player. Good team leader, yes - but she struggled to take orders from anyone else and proved to be very disruptive during tasks. Secondly, it did become apparent that she didn't really want the job (well, she did say it!) and it was more likely she took part in the show to to prove she could win it, rather than because she wanted to work for Sir Alan.

In a catastrophic move, she commented to the others outside the interview rooms that she felt that the job wasn't for her. Big mistake - especially when you have a snake like Alex listening. Alex wasted no time in mentioning her shock statement in the boardroom and from then on the writing was on the wall for Lucinda.

Lucinda's firing means that for the first time ever four candidates will take part in the final and, in another first, will work as two pairs - Alex and Helene v Lee and Claire.

So, who do you think will triumph? We think that Lee and Claire could nail this one. He's the grafter and she, most definitely, has the gift of the gab and is an excellent sales person. And with those two in the boardroom, we think that Claire will clinch the title.

What did you think of Lucinda's sacking? Was it fair? Do you think it's a good idea to have four candidates in the final? Who do you think will win? Let us know your thoughts...

Lucinda was the best among the five for me, true she did not need the job, at least she was honest about it. she did not need to lie to get it or stap anyone at the back like others. she says it as it is, Alex is not sure of his skills, no wonder he wrote English as one of his skills being an English boy.(what a skill indeed). helen is smart using her family background to gain simpathy from the interviewers. This season was too sneaky for my liking, is there no more honest people in Britain? Do we all have to be sneaky to and liers to get what we want?

I really liked Lucinda and wanted her to win, although I suspect she might be better off doing her own thing! Her clothes were fab, at least she showed some originality and personality, unlike the others. She kept her cool and had a lovely manner, even when all the rest of the 'nest of vipers' seemed out to get her. I think she must be a very strong person and is miles ahead of the rest of the candidates. Sir Alan missed his chance, but hey who would want to work for Sir Alan anyway if most of the people he gets to do his interviews are anything to go by. Lucinda you are well out of it!!

Well I agree that Lucinda should have been fried. Her personality alone makes it hard for people to gel with her and wasn't hungry for the role. Very odd individual.... I agree Claire was my favourite and I think she will defend her ground and earn Sir Alan loads of cash as she won't take No for an answer. I honestly feel she is willing to learn and listen

Lets think about last night's interviewers rather than the contestants.Karen Brady was fine as an interviewer demonstrating all the people and communication skills necessary to be a successful interviewer. All the others should be fired!!! They may be successful in business but as interviewers they were diabolical. It is no part of an interview to be rude, aggressive and downright obnoxious!! Be challenging and probing, yes, but don't insult people by being rude to them and by making unsubstantiated statements. The purpose of an interview is to find out more about candidates, the candidates should do at least 60% of the talking and should not be treated as s... !!! Sack the 3 of them I say.I,for one, would certainly not be prepared to work for any of them, apart from Karen Brady(pity she's at Birmingham City though as I'm an Aston Villa supporter!!!).

Lucinda might be zany, but she showed integrety, something which the others still in the running lack. Especially Alex. He's to sly and a backstabber to boot.

I'm sick of hearing that Alex and Lee are 'fit'. Lee has scars all over his face, can't speak properly and needs to learn how to use a spell check, and Alex is nice if you like that young, skinny, sickly, look and no personality!!

think Lucinda done brill..she should be proud of herself and the way she was upfront with everyone and handled her tasks when in charge...the four thats left are 4 two faced sniders...wouldnt want any of them working for me simply cause i wouldnt trust any of them as far as i could throw them...they have shown themselves to be two faced sleekit caniving chuffers!

My initial high opinion of Lee, who I had favoured to win, has dropped after his foiled ploy of lying to make his CV look better. It really doesn't matter that Claire's "neanderthal" interviewer (Paul?) also did the same, and proudly claimed that he did it. Infact he should have also been fired! Lying may be second nature for most of us as a defence or fear, even for mighty men like Bill Clinton, but I feel in business and in life, honesty and integrity must win. But then, that would be a utopian and fair world - far from reality!

Well if that lot are the finalists then Sir Alan is welcome to them. They all want to backstab their competitors to get the job. Is that business? The language they've all used has been appaling, "I'll destroy them.", "We'll murder them." "Let's crush them." The only person with any integrity was Lucinda. Maybe that was why she was so "zany"? Why should be a surprise that somebody is polite, or treats them with respect? The remaining candidates are a bunch of vipers. Lucinda is well out of it.
