Second time lucky for dancer

Britain's Got Talent winner George Sampson

Teenage breakdancer George Sampson has triumphed in this year's Britain's Got Talent. The 14-year-old had been knocked out in the preliminary stages of last year's contest but came back to snatch top prize this time around.

This is great news. Firstly, there's no way Simon Cowell's record label is going to sell 10 million copies of this worldwide. Secondly, how refreshing to see a TV variety show won by a non-musical act.

12-year-old opera singer Faryl Smith and string quartet Escala, favourites to win this year's series, didn't make the top three. While Andrew Johnston, the bulllied 13-year-old opera singer who made the most headlines, had to settle for third place.

Interestingly, it was another dance act - the highly original Signature - who finished second in the public vote.

Did George deserve to win? Well, there's no doubt that he is an incredibly talented dancer but strip away the special effects (an on-stage rain shower) of his winning performance and we do wonder if the act is really Britain's best new talent sensation.

However, maybe we are just bitter that our personal favourite act (Gin the dog) didn't storm to victory. Let's hope Gin will come back bigger and better next year - perhaps with a Singing In The Rain routine?

What did you think of the final? Did George deserve to win? Who were your favourite acts? Let us know your thoughts...

I loved this year's britains got talent and my favourite acts were Signature and Gin the dog. I was dissapointed that Signature did not win but its great to see a young energetic dance act win rather than another boring classical singer.

Hmmmm. I guess that most critics in the 20s thought a young Fred Astair was a one trick pony too, huh? Dance is dance is dance. When it is good it is spectacular. When it is spectacular it is mind blowing. Good on you George......develop it and become a legend.
