Second time lucky for dancer

Britain's Got Talent winner George Sampson

Teenage breakdancer George Sampson has triumphed in this year's Britain's Got Talent. The 14-year-old had been knocked out in the preliminary stages of last year's contest but came back to snatch top prize this time around.

This is great news. Firstly, there's no way Simon Cowell's record label is going to sell 10 million copies of this worldwide. Secondly, how refreshing to see a TV variety show won by a non-musical act.

12-year-old opera singer Faryl Smith and string quartet Escala, favourites to win this year's series, didn't make the top three. While Andrew Johnston, the bulllied 13-year-old opera singer who made the most headlines, had to settle for third place.

Interestingly, it was another dance act - the highly original Signature - who finished second in the public vote.

Did George deserve to win? Well, there's no doubt that he is an incredibly talented dancer but strip away the special effects (an on-stage rain shower) of his winning performance and we do wonder if the act is really Britain's best new talent sensation.

However, maybe we are just bitter that our personal favourite act (Gin the dog) didn't storm to victory. Let's hope Gin will come back bigger and better next year - perhaps with a Singing In The Rain routine?

What did you think of the final? Did George deserve to win? Who were your favourite acts? Let us know your thoughts...

Loved the show last night. Escala should have been in the top three, but not sure the right guy won. Getting bored of the hard luck stories from council estates. SIGNATURE were the MOST original, energentic, funny, in-time performance of the night. I'd pay to see them on their own just doing the dancing. Thriller is 20 years old, but this is fresh and fun. Bangla Rocks!

Well done to a young guy with talent. This show was to allow other talents a showcase. Signature brilliant as well. More classical acts had their showcase and wil reappear in the future. Show was a bit dodgy at the start but really liked ALL the dancers, especially FLAVA(think that was the name) who hopefully will get the chance to show us more of what they can do. Wether you like Simon or not he does know the business. WELL DONE GEORGE YOU DESERVED TO WIN.

I think the telephone voting system should be carefully scrutinised. How on earth could Escala not even be in the top three. If thousands of talented people have been auditioned and we end up with a 14 year old break dancer as our top offer to the World. Believe me BRITAIN HAS GOT VERY LITTLE TALENT
