Second time lucky for dancer

Britain's Got Talent winner George Sampson

Teenage breakdancer George Sampson has triumphed in this year's Britain's Got Talent. The 14-year-old had been knocked out in the preliminary stages of last year's contest but came back to snatch top prize this time around.

This is great news. Firstly, there's no way Simon Cowell's record label is going to sell 10 million copies of this worldwide. Secondly, how refreshing to see a TV variety show won by a non-musical act.

12-year-old opera singer Faryl Smith and string quartet Escala, favourites to win this year's series, didn't make the top three. While Andrew Johnston, the bulllied 13-year-old opera singer who made the most headlines, had to settle for third place.

Interestingly, it was another dance act - the highly original Signature - who finished second in the public vote.

Did George deserve to win? Well, there's no doubt that he is an incredibly talented dancer but strip away the special effects (an on-stage rain shower) of his winning performance and we do wonder if the act is really Britain's best new talent sensation.

However, maybe we are just bitter that our personal favourite act (Gin the dog) didn't storm to victory. Let's hope Gin will come back bigger and better next year - perhaps with a Singing In The Rain routine?

What did you think of the final? Did George deserve to win? Who were your favourite acts? Let us know your thoughts...

Great performance but not as good as Faryl Smith or Andrew Johnston, they both had natural talents that no one can be tought, there voices were outstanding. I am sure however that both of them will go on to lead fantastic lives with many experiences ahead of them, they will not forgotten and wont be long before we see them again, good luck to them all and well done George Sampson.

I would have preferred if Signature had won, because along with Kate and Gin, Escala, Andrew Johnston and some of the hip hop dance acts, they were the most memorable of the auditionees. On the other hand, George does need to support his family and make a better life for himself, so he is certainly not the wrong choice of winner.

The type of person voting in this instance would never consider Faryl...she never stood a chance

George talented? Give me a break! He was a ok but certainly not an excellent dancer! People certainly do not vote purely on talent but more on the sob stories they acts are primed to talk about to win sympathy, and how the each piece on them is edited. Load of rubbish! Good luck to him though because I am all for anyone getting a break in life! Wish him well

five of the acts i thought were outstanding and it was very difficult to call a winner . George was one of those five and i see an appeal of 2 to 3 years with this act . On the other hand Escala , Andrew and Faryl will be around for many years to come and go onto big and better things if they stick at it. Finally i thought that Faryl would win narrowly from Escala but good luck to George
