Second time lucky for dancer

Britain's Got Talent winner George Sampson

Teenage breakdancer George Sampson has triumphed in this year's Britain's Got Talent. The 14-year-old had been knocked out in the preliminary stages of last year's contest but came back to snatch top prize this time around.

This is great news. Firstly, there's no way Simon Cowell's record label is going to sell 10 million copies of this worldwide. Secondly, how refreshing to see a TV variety show won by a non-musical act.

12-year-old opera singer Faryl Smith and string quartet Escala, favourites to win this year's series, didn't make the top three. While Andrew Johnston, the bulllied 13-year-old opera singer who made the most headlines, had to settle for third place.

Interestingly, it was another dance act - the highly original Signature - who finished second in the public vote.

Did George deserve to win? Well, there's no doubt that he is an incredibly talented dancer but strip away the special effects (an on-stage rain shower) of his winning performance and we do wonder if the act is really Britain's best new talent sensation.

However, maybe we are just bitter that our personal favourite act (Gin the dog) didn't storm to victory. Let's hope Gin will come back bigger and better next year - perhaps with a Singing In The Rain routine?

What did you think of the final? Did George deserve to win? Who were your favourite acts? Let us know your thoughts...

I am so pleased to see him win,not just because of his back ground, but because of his spirit,to me a modern Billy Elliot story. So good luck George we are proud of you.........

It would not have been my choice but a deserved winner all the same. The likes of escala who are very good, and Faryl Smith who for her age was magnificent they will have a good career anyway because they have natural talent, the big pay day is only round the corner for them.So yes good luck to the lad at least now he has something to build on.

A really wet ending to what had been a terrific show. But lets be honest you can see breakdancers on most streets these days, a lot better than George. Escala in my opinion should have been there. They will have a good future, whereas poor George will disappear in a short time. Ah well, the british public show once again that they have no taste for reaL TALENT.

tho George was good i did not think he should have won by the way you can tell the winner before its anounts by where they stand one stage before the anountsment , stage right. should have been Farel Smith, orEscala

Have to agree with the majority of comments on here so far. George was a good wee dancer but was he really the most talented or most entertaining act? Signature where more original & got a far bigger crowd reaction. Where as young operatic duo Andrew & Farel are most naturally talented. I'd have liked to have seen Escala win as I found all of their performances outstanding. They're gonna have a massive future! ps- was anyone else really disappointed the George used the semi final act again in the final?

I know that to success breeds arrogance but it still irritates me and arrogant @#$%agers irritate me the most so I wouldn't watch one no matter how 'talented they are!
