Teenage breakdancer George Sampson has triumphed in this year's Britain's Got Talent. The 14-year-old had been knocked out in the preliminary stages of last year's contest but came back to snatch top prize this time around.
This is great news. Firstly, there's no way Simon Cowell's record label is going to sell 10 million copies of this worldwide. Secondly, how refreshing to see a TV variety show won by a non-musical act.
12-year-old opera singer Faryl Smith and string quartet Escala, favourites to win this year's series, didn't make the top three. While Andrew Johnston, the bulllied 13-year-old opera singer who made the most headlines, had to settle for third place.
Interestingly, it was another dance act - the highly original Signature - who finished second in the public vote.
Did George deserve to win? Well, there's no doubt that he is an incredibly talented dancer but strip away the special effects (an on-stage rain shower) of his winning performance and we do wonder if the act is really Britain's best new talent sensation.
However, maybe we are just bitter that our personal favourite act (Gin the dog) didn't storm to victory. Let's hope Gin will come back bigger and better next year - perhaps with a Singing In The Rain routine?
What did you think of the final? Did George deserve to win? Who were your favourite acts? Let us know your thoughts...

Brilliant though George was, as were at least five of the acts, I was astonished that Escala didn't even get in the top three. I don't know where George will be in a year or two, but I doubt he'll go further. Escale on the other hand, will grow, mature and develop and be ambasadors for England, even though they weren't placed in this event.

Posted by: d.simm470 on Sun Jun 01 07:05AM | Report abuseI have to admit that George is hugely talented, of that there is no doubt. My personal favourites were Escala, but I am shocked that neither Faryl Smith or Andrew Johnston didn't acually win. My heart went out to Andrew especially.

Posted by: aalecock2000 on Sun Jun 01 07:43AM | Report abuseYes George did deserve to win, he has great talent and he has also shown others that if you have the determinatioin and are willing to put in some very hard work you CAN achieve you goal. There were some gret acts on the show and many deserved to win but none more than George. And the effects of the water did not take away any of his pure talent. Sankey

Posted by: petercastree1 on Sun Jun 01 08:35AM | Report abuseGeorge deserved to win. He was magical! There was the cute and fun factor as well. Love Andrew but he was not exciting to watch. Escala were probably the "best" performers but would not necessarily be favourite to win a competition like this. Faryl started strong in first auditions but was passed by the others near the final. Signature were good, but should never have been top three. It should have been George, Escala then Andrew.
Posted by: femiolowo on Sun Jun 01 08:53AM | Report abuseGeorge was a good act to watch, but talented...Not so sure. There are hundreds of kids equally as good up and down the country.Shame about Simon Cowell not being able to coin in though lol. For entertainment I did enjoy Craig who didnt make the final, but he would of been good to watch at the royal variety. Anyway good luck to them all. Especialy escala.but then im a bloke...

He said the decicion was out of his hands.I hope this show isnt on the list for being corrupt. I cant fathom why the choice would be made by other people. The song was in a different range to his voice and he did not duit it at all. A very dissapointing final I thought. I thought there would be more surprises, But good luck to them all.
