If you'd have opened your window last night at about 9.55pm you'd have heard the sound of cheering across the land as Michael Sophocles was FINALLY given his marching orders in The Apprentice.
Michael seemed to get 'one last chance' from Sir Alan every single week and managed to wriggle off the hook from all sorts of disastrous tasks - from cheating over the tennis rackets to the kosher chicken debacle!
Last night's boardroom was real edge of the seat stuff - with at one point it looking like Helene was going to be sacked. Sir Alan quite rightly pointed out that we haven't seen much of Helene during the ten weeks of the show - what exactly does she do? His character assassination of her though did feel a bit too harsh - anyone else agree? We do feel that her card has been well and truly marked and it will take a minor miracle if she is not next to go.
And where has it all gone wrong with Lucinda? Only a couple of weeks ago we were rooting for her to win the series but last night she once again seemed more interested in sabotaging the task for team leader Lee than helping out. Her efforts at selling were pitiful and she was preoccupied with getting recognition for her contribution. Can she redeem herself next week?
Lee, Alex and Claire all had a very good week and these three now look like the ones to beat. Claire has really got her act together and is even managing to keep her mouth shut in the boardroom. Could she end up the surprise winner?
What did you think of last night's show? Should Sir Alan have sacked more than one person? Who do you think will win?

You don't mention that bully boy Lee completely sidelined Lucinda in this episode and acted shamefully in my view. I wonder about Sir Alan's judgement when he kept Michael on for so long and it makes me think he must be one of these bosses who has his favourites and encourages a@#$%-licking to a high degree. He may be a shrewd businessman but he's no judge of character. I think they are a poor bunch but Alex is trainable.
Posted by: sheilacornuk on Wed May 28 12:50PM | Report abusewatched it last night for the first time and was so happy michael got fired. WHAT A PRATT!! Yeah, like someone is going to hire a 600/day Ferrarri parked right next to a van selling bratwurst and piles of rubbish on the street. I pity the poor b*stard who ends up hiring this w*nker. The rest of them were pretty sh*t too for that matter, esp the tall lurch Helen who seemd to have a perpetual MOAN on her mug.
Posted by: arjoj on Wed May 28 12:50PM | Report abusei completely and 100% disagree with this point. I liked michael he made the show more intresting to me. Lucinda and Helene are terrible and thoroughly deserve t9 be booted out for utter uselessness yesterday making between them £65. Michael despite some arrogance was my favourite bar Lee, who deserves to win ! except next weeks challenge will be a very tough one for lee as it is not where he thrives, good luck to him none the less !
Posted by: olibarkwith on Wed May 28 12:50PM | Report abuseSilly daft lad, you would struggle to rent out a wheelbarrow down the market let alone a Porche. No wonder the country's going down the pan if he's one of the cream of British business folk. What with this Labour (tee hee) government and global warming fuel and food prices - no wonder we're going down the pan.
Posted by: barwick.print on Wed May 28 12:50PM | Report abuseIf this is management material, I despair of this country ever getting over its current problems. I have yet to see any of the contestants show people management, in fact, in the general workplace none of them could possibly survive.

Posted by: brianheeps on Wed May 28 12:51PM | Report abuseDesipte looking beyond the media-generated weak points of the candidates etc., I think the show could have a negative impact on young business people at large: -The contest's latest series only attracts low quality wannabee celebrity candidates with next-to-nil opportunity cost (i.e. quality of job they left/ could be doing), -"SurrAlan" is not an attractive leader figure to act as mentor- a destroyer of shareholder value (with Amstrad Plc.), abrasive character and now with only a property portfolio for the future apprentice, -The filtering process emphasises the very worst in business- cut throat 'dog eat dog' behaviour, little strategising with 'buying and sales' repeatedly being the only skills sought. Actually, it won't have a negative effect on young busines people, because most have more maturity than on display here and will see through the farce that is The Aggressive... The Oppressive... The Offensive.

Posted by: mahomed_sh2 on Wed May 28 12:52PM | Report abuseIts an Alex/Lee -v- Claire final, I am sure. Helen is gone as the only time I saw passion was when she had a dig at Lucinda. Lucinda is pathetic, has no people's skills, lies (raffle eh!) and has significant limitations. Can't help but think Sir Alan will go with Claire, as he missed out on 'the badger' opportunity. Alex I do not like, Lee I do, but please stop saying 'now that's what am talking about!'.
Posted by: darylfionarobinson on Wed May 28 12:53PM | Report abuseyes it was right that michael went last night. as for lee project manager he was totally no help at all to Lucinda, who was out of her depth , they all thought that a raffle was a good idea.after she worked hard to set it up the two did not want to know. disgracefull.
