Apprentice Week Eight: Wedding Woes

The Apprentice's Sara Dhada

- Video: Michael wriggles out of trouble in the boardroom

It was a case of bride and gloom for Sara on this week's Apprentice after she became the latest candidate to be fired from the show.

Sara's team, led by Helene, lost out after failing to shift a single wedding cake in a task which saw the two teams set up rival stalls at a wedding exhibition. We could sense that the writing was on the wall for her after she declared herself a cake expert early on in the task. Big mistake. Later, her pushy sales technique did her no favours and it was this that ultimately led to her downfall in the boardroom. We have an inkling that we had seen the best of Sara on the series and she just didn't have what it takes to go on to win. Shame.

What infuriated us last night was that - yet again - Michael somehow managed to wriggle out of getting fired. This was a guy who last week was involved in cheating on a task and managed to convince Sir Alan to give him 'one last chance' - so why has he now been given yet another 'one last chance'? Does he have something on Sir Alan that is keeping him in the series? We're starting to think that.

Last night Michael was exposed once again as a liar after Margaret pulled him up over the decision to go with the mid-price dresses. We were then treated to yet another display of Michael's naughty schoolboy act where he goes all coy and softly spoken and says he's really, really sorry and promises never, ever to do it again. We really want to see him lead the losing team next week and finally get his marching orders. Enough is enough!

Lucinda shone again as team leader and even the boisterous Claire was singing her praises in the boardroom. We were disappointed though when she didn't go along to help choose the wedding dresses - we'd have loved to see her set up a stall of kooky wedding gowns, all with matching berets. There were no surprises elsewhere when Claire plumped for the BHS frocks. We're still really liking Claire - when she ditches the backstabbing she does seem like a nice person, though we can't see her as Sir Alan's apprentice.

It was another great week for Lee as he sold sparkly knickers to a crowd of blushing brides-to-be. Even Margaret cracked a smile in the boardroom when he was hailed as a thong expert. Perhaps she made a sly purchase at the exhibition? If Lee can keep a lid on his agressive side then he is a serious contender, however, we did count a further three "C'mons!" last night - a sackable offence in our book.

As for Raef and Helene - we think Helene's card is now well and truly marked after last night's task and Raef just seemed like a bit of a spare part. We're not sure why he dressed up as a giant teddy bear to promote sexy wedding lingerie. Any ideas? As for Alex - yes he sold a few dresses last night but we still can't stand the whiner. Nice to see he found time to squeeze in a haircut between tasks.

We think that a Lucinda v Lee final is now looking increasingly likely. Do you agree? Did Sara deserve to be sacked last night? Why do you think Michael is still in the competition? Let us know what you think...

I think Michael should have got fired (although hes cute lol). He did a sly one again last night by bribing the customers saying they will get a kiss and a bottle of champagne from him if they buy the cake. How cheap is that? Sara didnt deserve to get fired because in the previous task she did really well. im not too fond of helene because as she mentioned last nite shes quite selfish as there is only one job so she will put the blame on others.I think Lee or Lucinda should win they are very strong contestants.

I feel that Sara did deserve to go as did her 2 compatriots. Certainly we learned how NOT to sell wedding cakes. Their team certainly made a balls up.Lucinda, after a slow start is showing what she can do.She is so cool, calm and collected. She is so deliciously feminine with a vast wardrobe and hats. A very pretty girl, and can even look glamorous in glasses.

In Sales, you sometimes know that what you're selling isn't going to be to everyones taste. Both teams had an expensive product to sell. One, the designer dresses, one the designer cake. Neither had any sales until right at the end but the team selling the dresses had adapted their approach to suit their product and were rewarded for their patience and professionalism as people came back to buy at the end. Sarah and Michael tried to sell the £600 cake as if it was a £20 Thorntons Deluxe. They asked no background questions to try to determine the relevance of the cake to the potential buyer or the occasion they were planning or even whether it was their decision to make. It was, here, taste this now do you want to buy one? Alan Sugar wants a good salesperson. The best at sales are Alex and Claire though neither are particularly strong. Lucinda could come through but shes not a good salesperson. Raefs probably the best all rounder and he was prepared to stick his neck out and choose the expensive dress and was vindicated by Claires great selling. Its a team game but there can only be one apprentice. He'll choose Alex or Claire.

Does anyone really care, they are all in it for the ego trip - and its crap tv as well. More important things in this world than brown nosing to Alan Sugar

The final rounds should be Raef and Lee, but Michael needed to go.

Do I think Sara should have been fired? No. Should Helene the Bully have been fired? Yes. Will Michael win. No. But he is entertaining.

Sara should have not gone even though she is a lawyer she doent know how to defend herself she could have made sure that Michael and Helene could have got fired. Helene for not managing and Michael for going with the cake
